QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 15 2009, 11:49 AM) Hello guys =D. I would suggest lurking around Garage Sales for some really good 2nd hand deals. Lately I've been seeing a lot of threads selling few months old original X1 at ridiculously low prices.May i ask something? What is the best way to own a Sony Ericsson now? I prefer original or something with solid warranty and support. It also has to be the cheapest way, and preferably with zero interest installment payment option. Thanks =D. Really make me regret buying my X1 so early |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 15 2009, 11:55 AM) Been doing that lately =D but i still have a little insecurity about buying a circa RM1k 2nd hand item online Nope, Malaysia don't have this kind of plan. Are there any other options? New original is about 1.8k am i right? Thats crazy expensive Honestly la, even if you buy new set most likely you'll encounter build quality issues with the X1. Cracks, keyboard problem and recently the slide out ribbon problem is more and more common. That is why for X1 I strongly recommend you to buy an original set, whether 2nd or not it's really up to you. ----------- On the other hand, I found a nifty feature in TF3D! For those of you who want to monitor the currency market, you'll notice that the Stock tab only offers certain countries to USD. There's a trick around it. 1. First, go to http://finance.yahoo.com/currency-converter 2. Select the currencies you want to compare. For example, I take Canadian Dollars against Malaysian Ringgit. 3. Click '5 Days Trend' 4. Copy down the words after 'Compare:' (Example: CADMYR=X) 5. Go to your Stock tab and Add Stock. 6. Type out the words you have copied down. (Example: CADMYR=X) Must be EXACT. 7. Select the search results and voila! You can regularly monitor the currency! |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 15 2009, 02:12 PM) Thanks for the advice. I'll stick to an original one then Initially it was thought the the white ones crack easier due to different build material, but over the time more and more black ones have problems too. So I think it doesn't matter, pick which one that looks nicer to you.Is there any difference between black and white ones? I heard the black ones crack easier? |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 15 2009, 02:53 PM) The thing is, i feel that based on what i read and based on specs, the X1 is the best value for money Winmo device with a QWERTY keyboard. It has the best of both HTC, and SE in it. You can use HTC touch flo, and SE xpanels. Spec wise, battery level is better than its equivalent HTC counterpart (touch pro). Spec wise, it rivals even the Touch Pro 2 in certain aspects, except maybe the accelerometer. Any other device to recommend that can match the X1? They changed the design for those who went for RMA if I'm not mistaken, not new units.I thought SE in UK already changed the design of the cracked case to prevent cracks from happening? Not done here ah? What are the keyboard and ribbon issues? For keyboard problem, just search keyboard in this thread and you should know the problem. Ribbon problem is when you slide out the keyboard, the screen goes blank. This is caused by a short in the ribbon, some people are having difficulty to RMA for this. Device that matches X1? Maybe Touch Pro, the problem is just the screen resolution. TP2 is way more expensive. Added on December 15, 2009, 5:25 pm QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 15 2009, 03:36 PM) How are the experience of the users in this thread? Anyone face this problem often or is it mainly just confined to certain batches of phone? Almost everybody has the crack and keyboard problem. Ribbon problem is quite new and is affecting more people.I personally have the keyboard and crack problem. My crack problem appeared much later than others, but keyboard problem much earlier. QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 15 2009, 05:31 PM) Thanks for sharing your experience I didn't fix it, using on-screen keyboard now And when u meant by ppl having hard time to get RMA for ribbon, u meant ppl with original sets? Thorus/avaxx sets? For the ribbon, they are original sets but they're overseas so I'm not sure which company. |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 15 2009, 06:00 PM) Oh man Mine is Singapore set Any experience of malaysian original x1 users getting their ribbon / case fixed for free? If this 3 major problems (ribbon, keyboard, case crack) cant be fixed by original company, then kinda beats the point of getting ori de rite Case crack: Overseas people successfully claim warranty. In Malaysia, I'm not sure. But one of our forummer was rejected, he lives in Sarawak. Keyboard: Overseas people also successfully claim warranty. In Malaysia, don't know. Ribbon: Overseas people having difficulty to claim warranty. In Malaysia, not common yet so I also don't know. |

Actually I don't mind the cracks, as they are minor and barely noticeable.
But the keyboard problem really kills off the X1's feasibility and productivity. |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 17 2009, 03:44 PM) I decided that im gonna wait for Xperia X2 =.= Expect the X2 to cost a bomb for almost the same specs as X1 and TP2.Either that or Touch Pro 2. But i think the X2 is better performing than the TP2. Either that, or if Droid comes here =D *cross fingers* Omnia dun have keyboard So yeah... And also, considering SE's past performance in QC, I think it's better to get TP2 as people are not getting much complains about quality. This post has been edited by xcen: Dec 17 2009, 05:16 PM |

QUOTE(StratOS @ Dec 17 2009, 05:35 PM) Finally, today after using 1 day after back from RMA, the battery part there crack.. Wah, and you paid for it somemore? Really need to find someone to sue already.QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 17 2009, 05:47 PM) The X2 shud have solved all the shortcomings of X1. Most ppl have compared it to TP2, and find that the build quality of the X2 is better i think. Cause metal housing, it feels more rigid. And the screen is no longer recessed =D. Performance wise, beats TP2 too i think. But TP2 got 5 row keyboard la =D. Oh, then get X2 is ok also. But the price...expect it to be somewhere around 2.5k I guess. But please constantly get yourself updated on the forums where X2 users meet, there might be build quality issues that pop out suddenly, just like how it happened to X1. (3 times somemore I just saw another device like X2 and TP2, which is the OmniaPRO B7610. Spec wise, its about X2 and TP2 territory! But cannot find it being sold here in malaysia http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_b7610_omniapro-2834.php The successor, B7620, shud be out soon http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_b7620_gior...armani-2966.php. Erm even the X2 doesn't get support from XDA because it's not a HTC phone. X1 is one of those unique phones hahaha

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Dec 17 2009, 06:56 PM) Yaka T.T EXACTLY! I was so pissed about the keyboard problem! If only it didn't have the problem, I don't give a damn about the crack, I would be so happy as an X1 user!the x1 is superb la it can even run the sense ui sigh why must it be spoiled by mechanical issues I mean, how often do you see a phone that is basically HTC inside, but outside it's all the full glory of SE's awesome-sauce design? PLUS, let's not forget it's a phone that comes with a really nice full QWERTY hardware keyboard. On paper, X1 is almost a dream come true, until.... THE FRIGGIN KEYBOARD PROBLEM! ----------------- Anyway, if you want hardware keyboard and extensive support from xda, seriously consider TP2. Or X1, if you're a style freak like me. Polish your 'open-phone-and-clean-keyboard-skill' and do it when your keyboard acts up. |

For quick picture taking, use X1 camera and press the center button of the D Pad to snap. It's quite ok, not blur because your hand doesn't shake unlike pressing the dedicated camera button.
For quality picture taking like macro or nice face shots, use HTC Camera. The long and detailed focus is very good in taking pictures. |

Weird, I'm using Valkyrie ROM and the battery is just fine. Though if heavy usage then the battery will definitely drop fast, like WiFi + GPS.
But if just SMS or light WiFi, it drops really slow. |
