nope..50mm 1.8 doesnt mean wont blur arh ...1.8 allows higher shutter speed but not HIGH SHUTTER SPEED. It is different

I rather get nikon AFS 35mm 1.8 ...

sigma 50mm 1.4 HSM is a big a$$ lens! there are a lot of good reviews about it too!

maxh3h3: you wana get 17-50 f/2.8 so that you can shoot in low light? what lens are u using? 18-55 or 18-105? my advise is to make full use of ur lens first...
fyi, f/2.8 will not help VERY much in low light. perhaps faster focusing...

f/2.8 allows u to shoot at 1~2 stops faster than ur kitlens (depending on wha aperture u use). the VR in ur lens already allow you to shoot 3-stop slower adi.....if u want 1750 because of the optics then i would say try both, but if u want it just because of the f/2.8, i would say think twice

i used 1750 on canon before, noisy and focusing is pretty slow, the nightmare is the QC of that lens, heard of its back/front focusing problem? mine was ok initially then the problem came after few weeks...very bad back focusing...

tamron 1750 has 2 versions, 1 with motor and 1 without....
sigma HSM lens are all with motor....

some third party lens are really good, for intsance, tamron 90mm

General_Nic: canon has a nice 17-55 f/2.8 IS! Nikon is without IS and tamron came out with 17-50 VC! a good compliment but optics? i duno la...

and they sacrifice QC too (or maybe im unlucky )

u cant use lens that are not AF-S...eg: AF-D 50mm 1.8

I am shooting kids too, damn it, it is really hard to shoot them...
try burst and with flash....hope it helps to freeze it...

i suggest to save up for sb600, the head cant swivel and u will be limited to your x-sync speed with this flash.

DX lens are made specifically for CROPPED SENSORS (APS-C) D40,D60,D80,D90,D300 etc....(sensors are not 35mm)
Full frame are such as D700,D3 with sensor size of 35mm.....

FX lens are meant for both full frame and cropped sensors (APS-C) cameras.....

dsc = point and shoot digicam? I would say that digicam is better than DSLR (d5000,d90) in video....no jello effect and moreover d5000 and d90 cnanot AF in video mode.

screen protector~ dont rush into any lens....make full use of what u have then decide what lens u need ...
