Too bad Sega changed alot for better or worse since this big failure. They are not much into risky, innovative things now.

And I'm still waiting for Shenmue 3...

New Dreamcast game announced

The Dreamcast’s 10-year anniversary just got a little more exciting. Redspotgames, a publisher that thankfully didn’t get the memo about the system’s demise, has just announced a new game for the Sega Dreamcast.

That’s right; Rush Rush Rally Racing will be hitting Amazon and eBay’s virtual store shelves this October for the low price of $22. I can’t believe I’m actually typing these words in 2009, but you can pre-order this Dreamcast game now via the publisher’s website.

Rush Rush Rally Racing is an old-school, 2D, top-down, arcade-racing game for up to four players. The trailer, which you can watch after the jump, boasts “No realistic backgrounds. No sponsored cars. Only fun, retro gameplay.” Who knows if RRRR will be any good or not, but the gameplay in the trailer does look pretty darn entertaining.

Here’s a list of features direct from the developer (their words, not ours!) if you’re dying to know more about the game:

- Single-player grand prix mode with four difficulty levels

- Three multiplayer modes to enjoy with up to four players

- Five race cars to choose from

- 10 Grand Prix race tracks

- 9 additional multiplayer race tracks

- Awesome soundtrack by Black Device

- Autosave to VMU (any port, file uses just 2 blocks)

- Region-free

- Rumble pack support

- Compatible with original Dreamcast pads, arcade stick, and third-party controllers

- Supports PAL (50/60 Hz), NTSC, and VGA displays

- Configurable controls and many other options

- Animated cut scenes

- Plus even more unlockable content!

- New: Online high score!

I still have a Dreamcast, but it restarts randomly, I don't know why.
For example, if I play a game, it will just restart in the middle and will start the game over again.

If it didn't, I'd go finish Sonic Adventure 2 >_>

not again... I think SEGA should stay away from the Console War.

just focus on game dev.

they can't even manage/market Sonic series properly... shakehead.gif

ppl can hardly remember any signature game now from SEGA?

hard... >_<

Disassemble your DC and take out the PSU and you'll see it's connected to the mobo with 8 pins, just clean the pins with cotton bud + alcohol and reassemble. Your DC will work like charm again nod.gif

PS2 cutscenes were all pre rendered fmv rather than realtime rendering if i recall correctly.

I actually got it on the launch date in the UK, remembered queing up to get it. The launch was anything but perfect thought because they couldn't deliver online gaming. If i remember correctly, SEGA got a lot of flak for not having online gaming working on any of their launch titles. They apologised by giving all of us early adopters a copy of Chu Chu Rocket free though.

forgot abt midway's ready 2 rumble boxing... that was a blast...laugh.gif

as for other hot titles, it came out later.... even have to forked out on MvC2 from liksang.com

surprisingly sega gaveaway chu chu rocket to start off their online gaming.... 4-player mayhem on 56k modem ... even got worms party for free somemore thumbup.gif

those were the days...

@colt - ps2 era is after that with many excellent titles came out...

DC is a big bored. Only good thing ever happened to it was Soul Calibur. I've more fun with my Saturn than this piece of crap plastic. So glad i got rid of it years ago.

As for ShenMue...yeuck...whatta load of crap!!! It failed as an RPG, failed as an adventure, and failed as a fighting game. ShenMue 2 was better though...finished that on my XBOX. tongue.gif

others:
MSR - Only the player's car are shiny. The other cars has no reflection and looks like pastel color. haha. Boring game.

VF3 - Inferior version to the Arcade. The DC PowerVR GPU simply couldn't do Model-3 level graphics then. And i remember vividly Pai's arm got sort of twisted the wrong way when she lose a game and fell on the floor. Uurrgh.

DOA2 - Actually has sharper graphics than PS2 version...but inferior light sourcing than PS2. Years later, DOA Ultimate on the XBOX ownz them all.

Sky of Arcadia - Perhaps the only epic RPG on the DC. Pathetic.

As you can see, i truly hate the DreamCast. hehe.

Depends on what kind of games you are after really, for me the DC is marvelous for porting arcade games and that's reason enough for it to be a classic in my book.

And speaking of RPG, there's also Grandia 2 which I think is better than Skies IMO.

although I'm a gamer, I only knew about Dreamcast's existence in 2002-ish because my favourite team Arsenal was sponsored by SEGA back then lulz (SEGA for away jersey and Dreamcast for home). thought it was some kind of vcd player until my friend told me about it
