Cool... was using a Fujifilm S100FS, loved the 28-400mm (35mm equiv.) zoom. Now getting used to the hassle of changing lens when i need to get closer, and still find it not as close to the 400mm in the past.

Was contemplating on getting a 2X tele-converter, doesnt that double the zoom of the 55200 to 400 (or 600mm in 35 mm terms)?? But am concerned about the IQ if adding the 2X, any sifus here tried it???

I know the 50mm is very good, but UWA in which lens?? With 0.45X adapter??
*
adding a tele-conv will also multiply the maximum aperture by that ratio as well... eg. on a F4.5 lens, adding a x2 tele conv will make its max F at F9

an UWA is normally refered to 10-20, 10-24, 11-18 range lenses

Any F42 flash user using diffuser here?? Wanted to know what diffuser type fits and which is best, between the boxy type and the toilet bowl type??

Wanna use it to snap pics of my newborn niece, going to SG during raya.

not recommended to use flash on newborn shakehead.gif

what u can do, if u really wanna flash, have your back facing a nearby wall, then twist the flash facing backwards away from the baby towards the wall bouncing the light back at the baby... gives a much better wrap than using diffusers

I plan to diffuse it, and bounce it wireless from a distance. Not directly in her face la....  blush.gif  blush.gif

Thnx for the advice....

even if wireless, your pop up flash will be directly at the baby's direction as well

our wireless flash needs a line of sight from pop up to flash, pocket wizards sends signals via RF so you can put it behind objects out of view and still can receive signal. price wise, very expensiveeee....

hi guys i new to DSLR n im looking for a entry level 1
sony alpha 200 seems attracted me due to its price , can get around 1.5k , im quite tight of budget
how does this baby perform compare to others entry lvl like canon 1000D or nikon?
*
spec for spec, i'd go for the any lower end sony compared to any lower end N or C. u can get a lot of 'tool' from the sony, unavailable in the other 2 brands. of coz when u look at midrange bodies, it's a whole different story altogether.

my personal advice is that at the low end, u can quite count Nikon out of the equation as it offers the least functions and priced quite the same as other brands.

Actually is a bit far for APS-C sensor loh...
Yeah, the bokeh is nice. That day tried with A900 (overkill I know), nice color and bokeh.  biggrin.gif

actually u cant really say its far also.. some ppl like the range that it offers, in fact there are some who thinks 50mm on apsc isnt sufficient, going for the 85, 90 and even 135 primes.. it all boils down to the usage in the end..
furthermore, if you're comparing it with FFs wrt crop sensors, of course it would be tighter

put it this way, you know that opening max wide will soften the image, right? then u stop it down a couple of stops to get sharper image.

F1.8, u have to stop to 2.2 or 2.8

with f1.4, u can stop to 1.8 which can achieve the same sharpness but with more light gathering ability + shallower DOF

Added on September 16, 2009, 3:36 pmanother point is that the optics itself is much sharper for the 1.4
