Have you tried the diopter adjustment dial?
maybe somebody has messed with your A300 OVF focus. (it is located at the right side of the OVF)

hi hokc77,
correct me if Im wrong, you snap photos professionally? (ie paid customer/client)
are your photos for web or printing?
what are the photo sizes you usually shoot (ie max resolution?) and do you do a lot of pp (crop, touch up etc) for your clients?

Thanks.

/me trying to learn from lowyat gurus and photo kakis ... smile.gif

cannot remember the name.

no its F8 and i confirm it is bcos i was shock too

maybe typo error in the book
*

maybe photography books usually use the "proper" (or traditional) reference to aperture value.

ie. f/2.8 has higher value than f/8
hence,
higher than f8 may actually mean f/8 and bigger (or higher value) aperture means f/5.6, f/4, f/2.8, etc...

looks like 1600 ISO is still good (for my standard)
3200 usable
6400 acceptable
12800 - ermmm... for emergency situation only

I'd go for 1750 as the price is few hundreds cheaper than 1680. Its sharp and f2.8 at all focal length.
*

from bro wcs2798 sales thread
tamron 1750 ~ RM1670
sony 1680Z ~ RM2500

thats nearly $1000/- more... unsure.gif

for my needs, Id go for the tammy for its constant f2.8 (whereas the 1680Z is f3.5-f4.5) smile.gif

maybe off topic or slightly off topic, but I remember before there was a posting of storyboard or storytelling via photography in one of this alpha thread.

I just like to share this vidclip of Ukrainian girl artist, painting with sand depicting story of German invasion and occupation of Ukrain during WW2. Simply amazing. Maybe photo kakis can get some inspiration for next photo shoot. Its Ukraine version of "America's got talent".

IIRC, when I was in uncle Chin's shop Zaloon, I think I saw a sign saying "upgrading to ver4 for free..." smile.gif (or something to the effect) thumbup.gif

May Allah shower HIS blessings upon bro ryzans' soul and write for him to be among the pious.

a shocking news for me. Although I do not know him personally, but somehow this tragic news really touched my heart.

should  i wait for a550/a500 or just buy a350 ?
*

if you can afford a5x0 and not really urgent to get a DSLR camera, I suggest you wait a 'lil bit. I heard A5x0 will be available some time next month (ie October).

Some General Tips for beginners
Quite a number of questions here will have beginners to photography and DSLRs asking what body to buy and what lens are good, what kind of replacement for the kit lens and such.

Here I hope that I can provide some tips for beginners as to what to look out for when one plunge head first into this
