It works for me~! good panning!
Welcome to d A family.. show us ur "hard to reach angle" photos~ smtimes i do miss my old camera canon A80 tilted lcd screen (1.5")!!
I got it for rm 2880 + rm 180 got d 2 years extended warranty. they told me is fully out of stock whole malaysia when i collected mine... My piece is brought over from Malacca.. got "FOTOKEM MELAKA" on the box. not sure how to check d firmware.. but d guy told me should b d old vers. how can we upgrade? d latest is vers 3?? inside d body like got powder like that (hope is not dust).... since 2007  unsure.gif
*
I also have a Canon A80. 1st CCD got problem then, Shutter death.

RM2880 with any freebies?
I got it at RM3100, after dumping all the freebies. The initial quote is RM3288. It just mean it's still possible to lower the price if I bargain hard enough. Old stock for RM3100. Compare to a unopen box new stock at RM3300. hmm.gif My 2 years extended warranty cost me RM248. hmm.. The price really different a lot at KL n JB. My box shows FOTOKEM S. PARADE. Should be from Subang Parade. They say fully out of stock, is just refer to FOTOKEM STOCK.

To check firmware, ON the camera, press the Menu, and the press the Display button. The latest is version 4.
Whether to update to version 4 or not, it's depend on you. smile.gif

I got 2880 without ANYTHING... no memory card. no bag..no tripod.. if u manage to bargain until below Rm 3k below.. ur extended warranty will be same as mine rm 180 only.. they count by the camera price. icon_rolleyes.gif Yupe no stock refering to Fotokem stock only.

Checked d firmware.. mine is Version 3... any benefit from the upgrade? like better noise reduction?
*
Mine also camera body only. The salesperson told me, it based on 8% of the selling price. I calculated yours, it;s only 6.25%.

regarding the firmware update, some info here.

How good is it? Then we have to ask other A700 user in the forum..

Thanks for the explanation guys, I know it boils down to personal preferences regarding the length. I already the Tammy 17-50 f2.8, would it be redundant if I get this 50mm f2.8?
*
Are you referring to 50mm F 1.4?
SONY 50mm F2.8 is a Macro lens. serve different purpose.

Yeah... i oso prefer the A200/300/350/700/850/900 type body.... fits my hands nicely...

The new A230/330/380/500/550 body is light, and grip is horrible in my hands.... feels like holding a DSLR light aje...
*
Have you hold the A500/550 ?? The grip is not like A230/330/380.

Since I dont have UWA lens.. i hv to do Panaroma to shoot the whole living room. Wish i hv the uwa lens to make my life easier..

This is The best i can do to join the photos together.. but many parts r distorted /stretched..

Now my concern is since the UWA oso suffer Distortion at wide...whats the best way to overcome this kind of shooting? photoshop every piece like what i have done..? 18mm oredi very obvious distortion.. 11mm will be..... unsure.gif

*
your photo is shoot using SAL1870? i guess 18mm for SAL1870 distort a bit.
Would it be better if shoot 18mm using SAL1118? I dono, gotta ask those who have both lens..

actually im quite noob to those cf card specs.....which one refer to the writing speed from camera to card?x133?or the 20mb 30mb???
*
Technically 1 x = 150kB/s
When the card wrote 133x that mean 133 x 150kB/s = 20MB/s

Wait SITEX at the last week of Nov if u can't get a good deal. smile.gif
But actually I don't know about the street price when normal days. If just a few dollars different , then no need to wait till Computer fair la.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Sep 20 2009, 07:21 PM)
The quoted speed on the CF is normally the read speed (which is always faster than writing speeds). I don't recommend Kingston as they are usually slow compare to other brands on the same speed rating.

Sandisk range are much faster read and write.
*
And the price is higher also..

Quote from respective website:
Kingston Elite Pro CF card 133x:
Reads up to 25MB/sec.
Writes up to 20MB/sec

Sandisk Ultra 2 100x:
Minimum of 15MB/second** sequential read speed for ultra-fast image viewing and data transfer

It seem that the 133x should be for the writing speed, not for the reading speed.

I am using the 8 GB 133 X Kingston Elite Pro and its does have some lag / delay when given a preview of the picture taken on my A200.

If you guys have a faster CF do share smile.gif
*
I am using 4GB Lexar Professional 300x on My A200. It seem works well. I can preview picture almost instantly.
But this card is bundle together with my A200 so I have no idea how much it cost.

The capacity of the card might play a part?

1680z still consider soft?? i think sharp enough without any additional sharpness tweak...

I mean at wide open without stepping down. My first few test look no diff with 1870 kit lens. Maybe my skill up to kit lens level only. cry.gif
Oh.. maybe it's the on-camera sharpness tweek.. I try again..

A550 has arrive in Malaysia?? not yet right?

Question about raw:
I shoot with cRaw + Jpg (Fine). Hi ISO NR OFF, Standard style with sharpness set to +3, other all 0.
The raw is converted using SONY IDC,without any changes.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Of coz the raw file give a sharper image. but if I look at 100%, there is shadows at some area as shown by the arrows. Is that normal? This is why the photos looks sharper?

jpguser posted image rawuser posted image
Photo on left is 100% crop from jpg, while the one at right is from raw file

The dark shadows not shown in ACR & Picasa, but they give terrible color.
Supposingly the in-camera sharpening should not affect the raw file. I reset the creative style to standard in IDC, the dark shadow still there. hmm.gif

Those who get a new cam will do pixel peeping... haha..

@albnok : thanks

@wufei: F1.8 is correct, F8 is also correct. Actually it's all depend on what you want. See what Scott Kelby say:

QUOTE(SCOTT KELBY @ The Digital Photography Book)
One thing I love about portrait photography is that a lot of the decisions are made for you (like which lens/focal length to use), so you can focus on the harder parts of portrait photographyensuring that you have great light and capturing the personality of your subject. So, now that you know which lens to use, believe it or not (and this is very rare), there is a special aperture (f-stop) that seems to work best for most portrait photography. When it comes to portraits, f/11 is the ticket because it provides great sharpness and depth on the face (and isn't that what portraits are all about?), which gives you a great overall look for most portrait photography (now, I say "most" because there are some artistic reasons why you might want to try a different aperture if you're trying to get a special effect, but for the most part you can choose aperture priority mode, set your aperture at f/11, and then worry about the really important stuffthe lighting, capturing your subject's personality, how much to bill your client, etc.).
@Achew one raw file is 12MB, can't send by email right?

@hokc77: your photos are great!! got a few query here:
1. How your point your flash? Direct flash 0 deg to the model? I believe 90deg bounce flash cannot be use, as the ceiling quite high for some place.
2. Any diffuser?
3. AWB during shoot balance and tweek the WB in the lightroom?
Mind to share some tips? I use 1680Z but the pic are like s**t.. need to go back to photography school again..

*
Is there an issue with color rendering issue of the 1750??
Got shop told me that it tend's to be more yellowish.. how true is that?
or the shop just want to earn more $ by selling other more expensive lens?

I wish I can test it out.. but where to find the shop with existing stock at JB?
These shop normally don't carry 3rd party lens for Alpha unless we pay a deposit asking them to order. Most of them carry lens for C n N mount only.
That why I need input from the user here..

You will have to pay for repair. Unless you had transferred the warranty to SG warranty.
