Put it this way...

Treat this phone as a non-touch screen phone.. a normal SE phone.. standard 'dumb' phone... ok?

The fact that you can touch the screen in some menus... that is a bonus feature..

Tada.. nothing hard to understand at all. =)

I know using Opera on it is easy with the touch screen.

Regarding stereo speaker, the audio source is at the bottom, so I would consider it as a no. Think about it like this, the iPhone has stereo speakers at the bottom, but because they're so damn close to each other, most of the time you can't even tell.

Speaker output sound is decent, nothing much to compare it to, but I have no complains. I just won't use it as my primary source for music. That is what I have my Logitech Z5500 for.

Its A-gps, not GPS itself, wat a dissapointment actually

What do you mean by this post?

A-GPS just means Assisted GPS, that is it is a standard GPS receiver that is also assisted via other means for quicker cold boot.. at least that is my understanding, unless in Malaysia it means something else?

To me I always know it as A-GPS > GPS

if the phone is A-GPS, u nit to pay for the assistance- its different,
if not y dun they say its GPS? huh? it does not have its own gps receiver but being assisted by nearby telecommunication towers.
so sum how rather, nit to pay,
rather than GPS its self...
so i wonder......

Go Google the information yourself before you make yourself sound silly.

A-GPS = GPS that is also assisted. How it does it varies from getting the information from telecommunication towers or from the internet, depending on how the unit is set up.

My X1 comes with A-GPS, but I can use a navigation software and have it get GPS connectivity without actually having a SIM in it.

This is for the person who is asking about the speaker output. I find it good, not too much distortion at maximum levels. I like how it is pretty evenly balance in terms of the frequencies (of course, don't expect real sub woofer bass results from it). Overall it is very impressive, kicks the X1's speakers right up it's rear.

GPS that is also assisted meaning the voice?
*
Voice? What do you mean by that? I am assuming that you are speaking of those GPS unit that gives you directions while you're driving such as "Turn Right in 50m" or something. If that is the case, no, A - GPS does not mean that.

Basically how a Global Positioning System works is like this. You have GPS Satellites orbiting earth. It sends signals down to earth telling you their position and the time the message was sent. Through this information, your GPS unit will calculate your location.

So in a hypothetical example, you switch on your GPS device after it has been switched off for a few days. What the GPS device will do is to monitor the sky and find all the satellites it can. While it searches the sky, it will be receiving information (Transmission) from the GPS Satellites. Once it has enough information, it will tell you your location.

An assisted GPS will have the advantage of getting the satellite information via other sources. As another forum member has stated, telecommunication towers are one. For my X1, it is assisted through a software that downloads positions of GPS satellites to help the X1's GPS unit get a location faster.

I hope this clears it up. Feel free to ask further questions.

So A-GPS will help the GPS software in locating ur current location something like that albeit faster than a normal GPS?
*
Yep, that is exactly how it works. I've had experience with the first Samsung Omnia as well. The X1 will get a GPS location way way way earlier than the Samsung Omnia which does not have A-GPS. Of course being indoor and stuff will still affect the time it takes to get a connection la.

Overall I like the Aino, it's a very good 'dumb' phone, with a good touch, pun intended. I can use the touch screen functions in the menus that matters. Web Browsing (Opera Mini) is one are where I find having a touch screen very useful, after coming from the X1. Having it in the camera function as well is a bonus.

got only 1 sony booth with aino demo. Not impressive also. The touch screen is not sensitive enough.

QUOTE(knuckleballer @ Oct 25 2009, 02:43 PM)
u mean its resistive kind or what?
*
It uses a capacitive touch screen (like the iPhone) so finger nails and stylus won't work. It most likely is not sensitive because your finger is dirty or something. I'm playing with mine right now and it's working well, no issues at all. When you switch on the screen with the button on the top, you need to wait a short while before it responds.

so the question goes- do u nit to pay for the Assistance? for A-GPS?
if u are so smart- u tell me, coz i dunno
im not flaming- i knw the reason the assistance- but my issue is, does it need to pay? for the service
if GPS per se- tat shows direction n wat not, no nit to pay for any service....
but wat i know, with assistance, u nit to pay which is different in A-GPS than GPS itself.

tak tau wats the issue im saying, jangan la say ppl like tat...

Not I'm so smart >.<

These things can just Google to find out.

Alright, I understand.

I only got the Aino for a while and I don't think you need to pay for the Assistance, unless somebody can correct me.

As for the X1, you need to pay for the data download, and this data needs to be updated every 7 days.
