went night walking in brisbane, it's sad that I mess up a lot of good scene with bad picture taken, mostly out of focus.. How do you take picture with very strong light source in the background?

In Universities of Queenland, 90% of my photos are under exposed, cant deal with evening sunset ><, need some tips, raise my iso?

all photos unedited in colour wise, only cropped and resized

under lowlight it always set the iso to 800 which caused grainy picture, another problem is shooting without stand which makes making extensive exposure time impossible, unless there's a place to place my camera.. I do like some of the night shot above I did.. tho is like among 300 others I have taken
