Hmm, 59 secs worth to read!

One of the reader at amazon reviewd as follows:-

QUOTE
The book is based on the premise that quick techniques can sometimes be surprisingly effective at helping us to change and explains (based on research studies) which ones work and which don't. Some examples that I found interesting were:

- a simple five day writing exercise that can lift your mood for several weeks (essentially a more structured gratitude diary)

- how spending money on experiences is a far more effective way to make yourself happy than spending it on things

- how punching a pillow to relieve anger actually increases your anger, while sitting quietly and thinking about how you benefited (or at least learned) from the experience has the opposite effect

- conversational techniques that can build instant rapport on a first date (the trick is to use topics that create intimacy)

- exercises to stimulate the unconscious mind that lead to better decision making

- simple tests to assess your child's emotional intelligence.

Hello everyone, I have been read all the topics LYN Literary Lounge & found that no one discuss about Motivational Books. I wonder do anyone sharing the same interest as me. Well, I love reading motivational books as it is a form of drive me to work hard in life in order to be success. Very often I see people reading Fiction or Non-fiction but seldom see people holding a motivational books like The Success Principles, The New Science of Getting Rich, Think Big & Kick Ass and etc. Do any of you have any good recommendations on motivational books? Please share rclxms.gif Appreciate it.

Hi Kevin,

I recommend to you Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker.
Throught T. Harv Eker's extraordinary combination of street smarts, humor, and heart, you will learn how to identify your own money blueprint and how to "revise" it to not only create success but, more importantly, to heep and continually grow it - so you think like rich people think, do what rich people do, and more than likely, get rich too!

cheers,

just trying to go into motivational book recently.. i'm not a bookworm at all but i guess i need some of the powers hidden in such books tongue.gif

i was wondering about the book 59 Seconds, isn't it was written to counter those other self-help/motivational books in the market? I was thinking to read 59 Seconds and The Secret, will it be a clash of understanding then???

and what about Rich Dad Poor Dad? it's very famous, is it about motivation more in financial aspect? and any recommendation of books on improving social/interaction skills?

How about Cook Your Assets: The First Personal Finance Cookbook smile.gif It looks like a promising book with lots of tips for personal financing!

Heres the publisher marketing I found on Acmamall.com

"Cook Your Assets" is a great starter guide for the finance novice. Designed as a cookbook, "Cook Your Assets" contains easy to follow recipes to gain financial independence.
This book is designed to help:

* Reduce stress about money and financial issues.

* Achieve financial goals.

* Improve your daily personal financial habits.

* Increase your net worth.

Prevent life changing events (ie: marriage, children, divorce) from becoming a financial strain.

With fuel, food, and housing prices continuing to rise, managing our financial lives is more demanding. Cook Your Assets addresses the basics of finance and will provide readers with a starting point. The Financial Chef will help readers make excellent recipes: Creamy Chipotle Credit Card Dip, Honey Glazed Home Insurance and Tiramisu Trusts

I hope that helps! smile.gif

O Boy ... I love motivational books . Some of the best motivational books I bought and read are Think and Grow Rich , Psycho Cybernetics , As you thinketh , The science if getting rich , Secrets of the millionaire mind etc . Reading a motivational book most probably would not change your mindset . The key is to read those books again and again everyday so the messages in the books can brainwash your mind .

I've always like motivational books, just that i didnt really buy the books, instead i listen to the audio books in youtube.

Anyway, I've just started with reading the normal books which i find the feeling of it is different; such as i can read and read again some of the parts highlighted. Currently reading - HOw to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie.

Please recomend some others. TQ

Anyone read Drive - Daniel H. Pink?

Pretty good IMO on the theory of motivation itself.
