Got. The 7th sound will be coming from the motor of the player when spinning the disc.

If u have an AVR (with Dolby ProLogicIIx) you can matrix a DVD soundtrack (5.1) to 7.1. Actual BDs with 7.1 channels is also limited...

if you go higher than 5.1, u'll need bigger space...

if space is restricted, the panning and sound separation can't be heard clearly, so pointless to have...

and due to that, not all dvd titles are mixed with 6.1 DD surround-ex since 5.1 are sometimes more than enough

btw - matrixed sound won't give the same effect as discrete surround...not advisable to use that...but try it firstlah, see whether ur gonna like it or nit,

Get Cars. Good DD-EX 6.1 DVD. The surround is excellent.

If you want dedicated (not matrix-ed) surround channel, get any title with DTS-ES 6.1 (Dare Devil Director's cut is a good one)

People talking about sound, you are talking about picture biggrin.gif

About your pic question, maybe salesman means 37" LCD whether HD ready (1366x768) or FULL HD (1920x1080) will be hard to tell the difference from 6ft. Both will look just as good with BD player. But if your LCD is 42" upwards then get the Full HD.
