Regarding the papago, I haven't tried it yet. I'll test it out later when I drive home.

Hi guys, my GPS may have a problem.

However, I think my AGPS works. Using these settings, I got my location in Google Maps within a few seconds.
Use wireless networks -> On
Enable GPS satellites -> Off

But if I try to use GPS only, I couldn't get a lock on despite several minutes. I had a clear view of the sky, although there were buildings around me.
Use wireless networks -> Off
Enable GPS satellites -> On

How long did it take for you to get the 1st time lock on using GPS only?

Hi guys, you know the default HTC flip Clock? The one that shows the weather?
I'm assuming it's using mobile internet to get that information.
If I use this setting, can I prevent it from getting it?
Settings -> Wireless controls -> Mobile network unchecked

I tried browsing the internet, but failed. So that should also mean the weather app should stop showing the latest weather right? icon_question.gif
After testing for several hours, I believe this is so - the Flip/Weather HTC Clock widget will not update the weather if Mobile Network is disabled.

hi, new here. Just moved from Magic to Hero. Am inquiring whether has anyone installed the latest ROM Upgrade for HTC HERO which can be found here.... http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.asp...cat=2&dl_id=671 ?
*
Is that really the latest? My unrooted SEA ROM build number is 2.73.728.5, which is higher than that site's (2.73.405.5).

Hi guys, when you guys flashed/rooted your HTC Hero, which tutorial did you use?
Did you use Shah'z Android Guide or somewhere else from the internet?
Did anybody try the one on theunlockr.com?

Anybody can recommend a custom ROM that has Chinese IME support?

Today I finally flashed my 1st custom ROM (MoDaCo 3.2) into my HTC Hero.
Problems:
1) No Chinese IME - solved by downloading Google Pinyin IME from Marketplace.
2) Missing option to use 2G network only - solved by typing *#*#INFO#*#* (INFO is 4636)and choosing GSM only.

As kamikraze said, INFO is 4636 on the dial pad. I've now edited my post to clarify that. smile.gif

Thanks a lot bonanno! It works! rclxms.gif

However I should mention that I could not download the file by just copying and pasting the link into my address bar. It kept redirecting me to the modaco homepage. So I visited this page on the Modaco forums, then right clicked and saved the link. That worked. No idea why.

One other thing: I had to disable the Google Pinyin IME before it worked.

Related to Villain 5.0. Does anyone have problem with the synchronization?

Mine has been synchronizing for more than 24 hours, and it seems that some of my contacts' pix does not appear.

I was about to reply that I know someone with the same problem, but turns out that someone is you.

Originally I wanted to sell my HTC Hero too because it was the lame SlideMe Malaysia version.
After rooting and getting access to Android Market, no plans to sell unless to get Legend or Desire. cool2.gif

But my gf hero comes with android market, or did I mistaken slideme as android market.

I downloaded colordict, fxcamera, abduction, buka, bonsaiblast from the market.
*
All I know is that SlideMe does not access the real Android Market.
Anyway it's good to root your phone so you can install Market Enabler, so you can fake your service provider in order to access paid applications.

i was thinking about this also...but i loyal to windows mobile hp or any google phone...all this will not turnin me down down down down biggrin.gif
I just switched from Hero to N86. blush.gif
The N86 is ugly compared to the Hero, but smaller and more convenient to use. Battery life and camera is also much better.
I'm still keeping my Hero for Android development purposes though. biggrin.gif

The Hero has a nicer user interface in my opinion than the N900. It's capacitive and supports multi-touch. The Sense UI also makes it look sleek.
But I suggest getting a newer HTC Android phone - Desire or Legend.
The original un-rooted Hero sold here doesn't have Market.

Yes, it takes a long time using pure GPS. For me took 10 minutes at least.
