MCR 4.0 should be in MoDaCo's kitchen by Monday. Meanwhile, VillainROM 10 is out.

QUOTE(normaron @ Jun 7 2010, 10:56 PM) to update the the RA to latest one 1.6.2 (downloaded "recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img" from xda forum), izzit just follow "Step 2 - Installing the recovery console" from Shahz's tutorial? Because mine is already installed with the old 1, so a bit not sure. Just do this steps for updating the recovery ROM:-and also Step 2 - Installing the rooted generic HTC ROM , I see the files in my sd card and Shah's tutorial is abit different and doesn't have radio.zip , so I will just perform this step also rite? Copy recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img to the root of your sdcard Boot into your current custom recovery (boot while holding HOME) Connect your Hero via usb to your pc/mac/... adb shell $su (not required if you have root already) #mount -a #flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img As for step 2, you dont need to do that as yours (MoDaCo 2.8) is already rooted. |

@normaron
You can do either one of the Nandroid backups. Nandroid + ext will backup your ext partition on your SDcard as well. This is particularly useful if you use A2SD. Note: If you're just curious, do a Nandroid backup. Reboot you phone normally. Connect it to your PC and mount it. Use a file explorer to go into your SDCard and you'll find a folder called 'nandroid'. Usually there will be subfolders in there with weird names. The number of these subfolders will depend on how many times you did Nandroid backups. Feel free to copy the nandroid folder to your HD or anywhere for safe keeping, you know just in case your SD card gets corrupted or something. If you did a Nandroid+ext you'll notice that its subfolder will contain an ext tarball (e.g ext2.tar) in addition to the backup images (boot, system, data, etc). If you open the tarball using a compression/decompression app (like 7-zip or WinRAR), you'll find your APKs are in there. You can wipe all of the listed stuff if you like, but I usually do the cache and partition because I'm lazy. If the ROM is behaving weirdly afterwards, then I'll do a full wipe. Custom ROMs usually have their own wiping requirements. Some requires full wipes while others do not. For example, if you're upgrading MoDaCo 3.x ROMs, they dont require any wiping. You need to read the respective ROM documentation or notes to see if wiping applies. If the Nandroid and wiping issues have all being sorted out, you may now Flash your custom ROM. That's right the 'Flash zip from sd card' option. BTW, MCR 4.0 pre-released is up:- http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...en-android-2-1/ This post has been edited by cleave: Jun 8 2010, 07:03 PM |

QUOTE(myboo_1988 @ Jun 10 2010, 08:29 PM) CODE adb shell reboot recovery adb shell parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 print (you'll get a list of your partitions here) rm partition_no (where partition_no is the number you get from the print command) So far, this MCR4.0 is amazing. It's fast. I've yet to suffer from any FCs. |

QUOTE(nles @ Jun 25 2010, 06:36 PM) Rooted or otherwise shouldnt be an issue. You'll still get the update if your firmware build qualifies you for it. In short, if you're on Cupcake, you'll get the update. A couple of things to note though. Firstly, you'll lose your root access if you accept the OTA on rooted sets. Secondly, there has been reports that the OTA wont install if you have a custom recovery image. So you might need to revert to the stock recovery image.QUOTE(LEVIATHAN @ Jun 25 2010, 08:44 PM) Thanks. Yup, that's about the right URL. Reliable support and faster updates. We are happy to announce that our HTC SEA official website is now moved permanently to a new location. QUOTE(pwpj @ Jun 26 2010, 09:43 AM) According to HTC Malaysia FB page, the update server is currently offline and will only resume its service on 1st July. @LEVI Come on bro, make the jump. There are loads more toys on N1 and everything seems to be faster. I had to sell my soul to satan to get an N1 but it's totally worth it. |

1) Backup all your FAT32 content to your PC
2) Go into recovery and redo the partitions 3) Restore the FAT32 stuff to SD You can also use Parted to resize the partition through ADB. But I'm not sure whether the Parted on the Amon-RA's recovery has that resize command. |

Factory reset will just wipe your data off the phone. It doesnt touch the ROM nor the recovery image.

the 2.x build is for Cupcake. The build you saw on HTC site is an update to enable the OTA.
All Eclair builds have 3.x serial. |

You mean NavDroyd? Navdroyd is crap. I can get GPS lock (which is way off by a couple of miles btw) but the routing is horrible. Google Map is 200x better.
