I haven't test it. Delay in receiving call. I don't think that's a problem to me. Unless...
I think I better test it.

SlideVillain is nice indeed. Espresso is not that bad, better than Villain 5.4 theme at least. myModes is like Windows 7's theme, it will change everything including the sounds in one go.
I think I like it :-) |

VillainROM/SlideVillain/Vanillain is derivatives ROM from leaked/official 2.1 ROM. Check http://www.villainrom.co.uk/
You will have the pros and cons of each ROM there :-) This post has been edited by LEVIATHAN: Apr 29 2010, 10:27 AM |

Anybody here know where are the settings e.g. to change the default wallpaper? I mean the settings inside *.zip, not inside Home > Add > Wallpapers > ...
Nevermind, I think I found it. It's in CODE system\framework\framework-res.apk\res\drawable\ Enjoy your custom ROM :-) This post has been edited by LEVIATHAN: May 1 2010, 05:25 PM |

According to VanillaEclair's build.prop, I'm using WCDMA preferred. When I changed it to WCDMA only, I have full bar with H.
If I change to GSM only, full bar with E. Maybe I should change the build.prop to WCDMA only to save some juice. Well maybe. Edit: GSM auto (PRL) is a better choice I think when looking at xda forum about this. Now how to write this down in build.prop? Anybody? And bro bonanno, could you please copy paste build.prop of BeHero+ for me please? This post has been edited by LEVIATHAN: May 2 2010, 08:05 AM |

I would like to share one way of determining our default wallpaper when flashing a ROM.
So we downloaded for example, VillainROM. We are not happy with the default wallpaper, it's cliche and boring. So how to change this? One way is by Home menu. An example from a Vanilla ROM: ![]() No. We want our wallpaper to be there after the very first boot. So we do like this. 01. Open VillainROM5.X.zip (or any other ROM) with 7-Zip. 02. Make our way to /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable. Here we will see one file, named default_wallpaper.jpg. This is the wallpaper that will appear right after the 1st boot. ![]() 03. Download a nice wallpaper, rename it to default_wallpaper.jpg. Maybe resize it to 640x480. 04. Drag our new wallpaper into the /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable. Click yes to the dialog that appears. ![]() Now, we need to sign this modified VillainROM5.X.zip, else it won't work. 05. Copy the modified VillainROM5.X.zip to C:\ 06. Run Stericson signing script (or any signing script you like. In this guide I use Stericson) 07. Write 4. Enter. 08. Set the path to C:\VillainROM5.X.zip. Enter. 09. Write yes. Enter. ![]() 10. The script will do the signing. 11. All set. ![]() 12. Now we can flash the modified ROM the usual way. Note: If we want a greater control/customization of our ROM, be sure to setup this signing script properly. Search for Stericson signing script at XDA. Read the tutorial to setup the thing properly. This signing script is a MASSIVE TOOL to have! Good luck! |

Dang.
Anybody here know how to make JIT default into a ROM? It seems that VanillaEclair 2.0 PE don't have any JIT pre-installed. Yes there is a thread regarding JIT in xda. That thread however don't have any tutorial on matter aforementioned above. I don't know if I missed any tutorial though. So guise, please guide if you know something about this. Edit: Nvm, I guess i'll do the old GScript trick. 1. Prepare the files and folders as per instructed here: http://sholes.id.au/how-to/#jit ![]() CODE mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock6 /system cp /system/build.prop /sdcard/dalbk/ cp /system/bin/dalvikvm /sdcard/dalbk/ cp /system/lib/libdvm.so /sdcard/dalbk/ cp /system/lib/libnativehelper.so /sdcard/dalbk/ cd /sdcard/jit/bin cp -f dalvikvm /system/bin/ busybox chmod 755 /system/bin/dalvikvm cd /sdcard/jit cp -f libdvm.so /system/lib/ cp -f libnativehelper.so /system/lib/ cat build.prop >/system/build.prop chmod 644 /system/lib/libdvm.so chmod 644 /system/lib/libnativehelper.so chmod 666 /system/build.prop sync mount -o remount,ro /dev/mtd/mtdblock6 /system reboot 2. Copy paste this into Notepad++, save it as JIT.sh. ![]() 3. Upload the JIT.sh into your /sdcard/gscript/ 4. Run GScript, add the JIT.sh with su permission. ![]() 5. Run the JIT.sh via GScript. Note: Ignore the two errors. They are harmless. Seriously. 6. Reboot your Hero manually. 7. Enjoy. I tested the JIT.sh on VanillaEclair 2.0 PE and I can confirm that the script is good and working. The script is based on the guide, so credit to the original author. I'm just copy pasta to fit my purpose. Edit: I uploaded soem pics for you guise. Good luck bro. Google Maps is updated. Available in the Market. You go download.
![]() Now with two icons. Maps and Navigation. Edit: So how to update your custom ROM with this latest Maps? 1. Connect your Hero with PC. 2. Assuming that you already have the Android SDK in orderly, CODE adb remount adb pull /data/app/ C:\ ![]() 3. Open your custom ROM with 7-Zip. 4. Drag com.google.android.apps.maps.apk to the /data/app/ 5. Using Notepad++, make sure your /META-INF/com/google/android/update-script has this exact lines, CODE delete DATA:app copy_dir PACKAGE:data DATA: set_perm 1000 1000 0771 DATA:app ![]() 6. Sign your modified custom ROM to make ready for flashing :-) This post has been edited by LEVIATHAN: May 12 2010, 03:52 AM |

Fast but eat battery is not that desirable, obviously when you do outstation frequently. My vanilla can hold the charge for 3 days maximum by adjusting soem settings,
1. Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Use only 2G network, TICK. 2. Location & security settings > Use wireless networks, UNTICK. 3. Location & security settings > Use GPS satellites, UNTICK. 4. Sound & display > Brightness, set to manual, slided to low brightness. Plus another settings like minfree set to aggressive, no blinking trackball, wifi turned off, and apps notification (e.g Seesmic, Facebook, Got To Do etc) set to update manually, and I still get Gmail updates in good tiem. ![]() Edit: Oh wai... Froyo will come with possible 4.5x speed: http://is.gd/c57Xk This post has been edited by LEVIATHAN: May 12 2010, 07:48 PM |

If you mean MoDaCo for Hero, that is Cupcake 1.5 ROM. Not Éclair 2.1.

Motorola CIME, Acer CIME, HKIME (from market), but still, the default keyboard popped out with no handwriting recognition... |
