Just came back from sunny Maldives in the Indian Ocean and thought I'd share some shots of the place. Hope you guys like it.

As usualy some general information about the place :

The Maldives ( /ˈmɒldaɪvz/ (help·info) or /ˈmɒldiːvz/), (Dhivehi: ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ Dhivehi Raa’j) or Maldive Islands, officially the Republic of Maldives, is an island country consisting of a group of atolls stretching south of India's Lakshadweep islands between Minicoy Island and the Chagos Archipelago, and about seven hundred kilometres (435 mi) south-west of Sri Lanka in the Laccadive Sea of Indian Ocean. The twenty-six atolls of Maldives encompass a territory featuring 1,192 islets, of which two hundred islands are inhabited.

The original inhabitants were Buddhist, probably since Ashoka's period,[citation needed] in the 3rd century BC. Islam was introduced in 1153. The Maldives then came under the influence of the Portuguese (1558) and the Dutch (1654) seaborne empires. In 1887 it became a British protectorate. In 1965, the Maldives obtained independence from Britain (originally under the name "Maldive Islands"), and in 1968 the Sultanate was replaced by a Republic.

The Maldives is the smallest Asian country in terms of both population and area; it is the smallest predominantly Muslim nation in the world. With an average ground level of 1.5 metres (4 ft 11 in) above sea level, it is also the country with the lowest highest point in the world, at 2.3 metres (7 ft 7 in).

@Tranny - One thing I just can't quite get enough of is the blues there... it's SOOOO blue that your eyes hurt looking at it too long. Crazy blues... just different shades of blue.

Well depends on how you look at it...

If you include the filters, tripod and UWA lens that I bought, then add 7k to the total.

Actually quite a lot la... go places like this no point eat maggi mee wan... so for 3D 2N a safe bet would be 10k.

@PCHo - Yeap... that's a rough estimate... not gonna look at the bills yet. Now got matta fair... lots of deals and cheap tix... grab the opportunity. Best time to go there is Jan/Feb/March though when the weather is mostly fine with minimal showers, but then hor... if it's peak season, the room rates will go up...

@mzjuin - Thanks. I'm using the Nikon D90 coupled with either the 24-70 or 14-24 Nikkors depending on the shot.

I shoot in RAW, so yes, I do have to open the files in a photo editor and make some adjustments some sort of contrasts, levels...etc.
