QUOTE(kotmj @ Oct 13 2009, 06:55 PM) Nono, really really.Any form of competition is great, but it's always better when it's against a bunch of people, which we KNOW we can one day catch up and beat. You guys need an accomplish'able goal and a time frame. Say maybe, look more cut than this fellow in six months. Then you must lay out the method you wish to undertake and what you're going to do to beat someone. For example, the national weightlifting competitions which I competed in recently. Sure I lost. But then when I look at the numbers, I KNOW I can chase these fellows. The highest snatch was 116KG in my category and this guy is in the armed forces, and trains all the time. His jerk was 146KG. Total years training? 8 years. I snatched on 95KG and jerk 125KG, but I've got dedications and I've only been seriously at it for about 1 year. Combined, I need to have another 42KG in total. So I give myself about 1 year to beat that fellow and I must work to achieve it. How do I achieve it? I train more consistently and follow a particular method. Got time to rest, rest. Don't play around. |

Dear All thanks for the advise and sarcasm, tried weight lifting today to tone my bicep.
Initially started at 10kg, it was not as heavy, as normally when i used bicep curl, i could go up to 20-30kg. Prolly because I was still new, i sort of like twisted my wrist, so i reduced it to 5kg. My wrist was not comfortable yet slightly better than having 10kg. Realised that when i lifted, i used both strength near armpits, causing my armpits were very closed or even touching my body (dont know how to describe). Anyway, i made the 1st move. I shall move on the squat etc thanks again love love |

You should stop doing the bicep curl. I know you want nice big biceps, but at this stage you do SQUAT, DEADLIFT and BENCH PRESS. Only.

My grandmother can lift weights, too. Also, you said something about toning. Read the thread title again. It says body BUILDING. Not body toning. We build muscles, not tone them. We build them but then we tone later. Later as in after a few years of weight TRAINING. This post has been edited by Florian: Oct 13 2009, 11:46 PM |

As most of the time i notice that someone will stand either beside or behind on stand by. USE A M-FKING DUMBBELL TO BENCHPRESS. It's called dumbbell bench presses. Start light. OH MY GOODNESS. Don't tell me you need someone to spot you using a 5lbs dumbbell? Unless you have some muscle disease or dystrophy or something. |

QUOTE(Florian @ Oct 13 2009, 11:52 PM) i know u are saying here, build muscle first and tone later.but what i mentioned is my goal, it has got nothing to do with reading or not reading. QUOTE Do Compound Exercises. Don’t imitate Pro Bodybuilders. Isolation exercises are ok once you’ve built base strength & muscle mass. But if you’re starting to build muscle, exercises that hit several muscles at the same time are better. then y was i not right in doing biceps curls again ar ? * No endless Biceps Curls -> Pull-ups, Chin-ups & Barbell Rows * Also no Triceps Kickbacks -> Bench Press, Overhead Press, Dips * And definitely no Leg Extensions -> Squats & Deadlifts |
