QUOTE(pizzaboy @ Dec 18 2009, 04:22 AM) Business perspective is not so smart or profitable to open such a gym. Higher capital to buy those rack/weights etc..Normally gym profits on the volume of ppl coming into the gym and the diversification of diff equipment catering for diff needs. Hence, commercial gyms like TF, CF and FF they have dance, yoga and cycling classes where they just need to hire an instructor, pay him/her monthly and have some empty space and they can offer those classes to those joining aunties, young working adults, uncles and those ppl that wanna lose weight to join their gym. In this sorta way they can maximise the volume and minimise space used per person in the gym. Unless you can cater for our own national/state athletes but then again they usually have their own place to train.. Or your income is stable from your other business ventures or family is very rich its gonna take a while before its gonna break even. Just my opinion. No offense. QUOTE(yeah_guyz @ Dec 18 2009, 11:20 AM) i can hardly see people using squat rack in gym. but if it was at a easy access place. then it is good to go. I don't intend to have one as huge as that. I'll have 2 or maybe 3 Oly lifting platforms (probably I'll be playing with it most of the time) and it'll be DIY'ed. Dig 2 "flat holes" on the ground, put hard wood and rubber, sorted! Buy like maybe kettlebells from 8-40KG and a ton of dumbbells. Everybody squats on a jerk/front squat rack. It'll be Oly lifting + strongman days inspired. RAWR! I'm collecting my dumbbells already from 2nd hand sales.Normally gym profits on the volume of ppl coming into the gym and the diversification of diff equipment catering for diff needs. Sounds like a plan, Commercial gym hardly have enough proper equipment for weight trainer, u cant throw the weight, too little space and etc.
I went to Fitness first last night in Menara axis, it doesnt have a power rack, too little space, hardly deadlift even the numbers of ppl is not that much, threadmill and machine take up too much of the space. So personally i would say a gym with enough free weight, place for u to THROW ur weight. And just to earn extra case, get some trainer and open up a small studio inside the gym for those stupid classes lol. |

Level 1 certificate, or NASM-CPT certificate. I will definitely want a C.H.E.K. practitioner. If they don't have any of these, they'd have to prove to me, they're willing to go for courses to learn and understand more. Most importantly, I'll want them to constantly read journals, books, studies, watch videos, and update themselves. I'm going to bring one guy from China who's my coach's good friend to coach Oly weightlifting as well. Probably end up with 3 trainers including myself. I've already got one Eleiko barbell set, and I'm gonna work into buying another 3 sets from DHS or Zhangko. My friends in Pushmore had the slowest business in the world, and now they even have to schedule the classes because too many people come. I bet it'll work. |

QUOTE(kaspersky-fan @ Dec 18 2009, 07:07 PM) Its likely to be around PJ. Problem is getting the greens. One Eleiko set that I got (I needed to pull a LOT of powerful strings) was already five figures. I need at least 3 more sets of barbells and weights. Kettlebells also another bitch. RM600 for ONE 32KG kettlebell. I'm gonna really need to find some China suppliers for this to work out. Never mind, SUKMA finish can focus on this. |

It is financial suicide to open a gym of that sort here, now. Most ghetto gyms appear to be operating at very marginal profitability. Talk to the owners: If you were to start afresh, knowing what you know, would you open a gym? I think many will answer no.
