hey guys. i have a D90 and right now i'm considering getting an external flash. some of my friends recommend Nissin, while others recommend SB-900.
basically i'm more into event photography, and occasionally i do go out and shoot nature related like flowers, birds etc
my budget would be around RM1k. any recommendation?

QUOTE(@meno @ Sep 28 2009, 06:49 PM) Well, i know many would not recommend 3rd party. But i'd say go get the Nissin Di866. It's well within your budget, and it's the best flash you'll get at that price. Forget the Sb-900 as it's over your budget...And from my readings, the Di866 is currently the best 3rd party flash available. You pay 60% the price of an SB-900, but end up getting something which performs quite similiar to an SB-900. thanks for the opinions guys. if SB-900 is around 1.5k i wouldn't mind topping up that little bit if it is much better than nissin Di866. my question now is, is it worth paying more for SB-900 or i would get the same performance from a 3rd party flash?

hey guys, i plan to get an external flash. but i'm undecided which one to go for.
should i get nissin di866 or nikon sb900 or something lower range? budget wise i can't really say, i'im willing to pay for something that will be useful. most of the shots i take are portrait, buildings, etc not really into specific shots.
pls advise. thanks in advance.

QUOTE(poobalanc @ Nov 30 2009, 10:11 AM) i think, if budget not a constraint, should go for SB900. is SB900 very much better than nissin di866 or sb800 or sb600? if they are in the same performance level, should i fork out much more for sb900? budget is not exactly not a constraint, of coz it is thanks in advance

QUOTE(edtan5 @ Nov 30 2009, 12:19 PM) imo, original products is always better than 3rd party. they will be more compatible with future nikon models than 3rd parties product. sb900's Guide Number is higer than sb800 and sb600. sb600 can't act as a commander. since you have the budget why not go for the best Yeah I understand that original producs are better than 3rd party. but the price of sb900 is double that of di866 and it is almost 4 times more expensive than di622. but i think i will filter out 3rd party products. so i'm left with sb900, 800 or 600. what do you mean sb900's Guide Number is higher, and sb600 can't act as commander?
