Do u guys know how much is the new nikkor 50mm f1.4 price in the Malaysia market..is it worth it..can someone explain to me what's the diff btwn f1.4 & 1.8.? Which of the two is well recommended?
*
when u say 'new', u mean the AF-S ver? or actually the AF-D ver if u r comparing 1.4 n 1.8?

I have used both. If you get the 1.4 it usually comes with a Silent Wave Motor for smoother focusing. The f/1.4 is two stops higher than the 1.8, and can be very much faster. Of course, more bokeh =p

But 1.4's come at a high price... about 1k. compared to the rm400 for a 1.8.

Purely my opinion.
*
there's some error in your info
1.4 not usually comes with Silent Wave Motor, only the AF-S 50mm f/1.4, which cost about RM1800
the AF-D 50mm f/1.4 do not have SWM, cost RM1000, which is quite cheap compare to the AF-S sweat.gif

Shoot this wif D90 kit lens..

The setting is

Aperture Priority
Aperture : f6.3
Shutter Speed : 1/250 sec
Focal length: 58mm

I oso took a few other shots n n i found the yellow part of inner flower isn't sharp enough when view in full size. It's not so sharp on the edge of flower too. This happens when i shoot wif 105mm too. Is it the limitation of the kit lens? Or there's a particular setting/method to improve this?
*
that's y there r such things as macro lenses... tongue.gif
that's indeed the limitation of the lens, it does not have such close focusing distance

Will macro lens improve a lot? Do u hav a sample? Sorry for the noob question, coz newbie here.

I tot i could achieve macro ability by zoomin in to the greatest focal length at shortest distance.
In stead of getting macro lens, lens like 70-300mm, how is the result on macro at 300mm? will it be not clear enuf too compare to macro lens?
*
u can achieve close-up shots up to some point, but still not so clear
y macro lens?
cos when u want take sharp close-up or macro shots, the minimum focusing distance need to be considered
70-300 minimum focus distance is 1.5m, but Nikon macro lens: Micro Nikkor 105 minimum focus distance is 0.31m
1.5m & 0.31m r big difference...

compare Tamron 17-50 or Nikkor 17-55 or similar lenses with prime lenses such as 50mm, which has better IQ?
i know advantage of the 17-50 is multi focal, but what 50mm prime has advantage over it other than f/1.4 or f/1.8?
