I’m gonna do a short, newbie, amateur case review, model – Lancool Dragonlord PC-K62 Link

user posted image

It’s a new line-up from Lancool called Dragonlord K series. This is their second line-up after their initial Metal Boned K series line-up. Unlike Metal Boned K series which is constructed a mix of steel + aluminum, Dragonlord K series is a mix of steel + plastic. Both series able to occupy most of Lian Li accessories. thumbup.gif

Starting with this series, Lancool have incorporated 100% new tool-less design. Well, lets see how “tool-less” its gonna be coz a lot of manufacturer tends to claim tool-less feature case while its only tool-less around some area, not the whole case.

Nuff talk, lets start...

From the looks, u can tell that the front panel is like a 9-bay case. Unfortunately it only offers five exposed 5.25” drive bays, while four hidden 3.5” drive bay taking up the remaining bays. No exposed 3.5” bay here, u gonna need a converter to use those 3.5” device.

user posted image

Each bay cover is vented with air filter lining the inside which is removable and washable (no more air filter on the fans). rclxms.gif

user posted image user posted image

Power and reset switches are located on the top, with two 2.0 USB ports, mic/headphone jacks along with the activity LED.

user posted image

Under the large vented opening on the rear top panel resides two 140mm blue LED fans.

Let’s look beneath it shall we…

There’s the IO port, finally they made it modular. Guess I’ll remove the mic/headphone jacks cable since I’ll never gonna use them anyway. This will make cable management a lot easier with less unused cable removed. thumbup.gif

user posted image user posted image

On to the rear part of the top panel we have two 140mm blue LED fans. Got some holes around em so you can route the cables. As you can see on the right pic, lian li have design the fan screw mount hole kinda unique, with this you don’t need a screwdriver to remove it. Push it to the left & take it out. Wish they could done the same thing to the front & rear fan slot.

user posted image user posted image

On the back, the power supply is bottom mounted (with two options to mount either facing upwards or downwards), 8 vented PCI slots, water cooling holes and a 120mm exhaust fan (with a lovely honeycomb design fan guard).

user posted image

Other than that, the case comes with transparent side panel, and on the bottom there’s a removable filter for the power supply intake.

user posted image user posted image

Removing the filter is damn-easy… (wondering if this filter fits the front intake)

user posted image

…it does

The motherboard tray has a large hole cut into it at the top right - it’s a must have feature for these days so that we don’t have to remove the motherboard when fitting a cooler equipped with a back plate. Right above it there’s a small rectangular shaped hole for routing the 4pin/8pin CPU power cable.

To the right of the motherboard tray are two large oval holes, and two rectangular shaped holes placed on the bottom part for routing cables. The pre-cut smaller holes are for the supplied cable management clamp or u can use it to mount reservoirs there. icon_idea.gif

user posted image user posted image

Moving on to the 5.25” drive bay features quick release mountings on the top two drive bays. Just press the black clips together, swing the locking bar open and slide in those optical drive, snap the mechanism back into its place and… you’re done.

user posted image user posted image

The tool-less mechanism for the PCI add-on card is the best and most secure I have used to date. Finally, they got it right! and it has to be the best out there today. To those who still prefer scerws, yeah, this thing can be dismantle, but I'll bet you gonna love it.

user posted image user posted image

The PSU tool-less securing bracket works by hooking onto the right hand rail and then hooks under the left hand rails and is clamped in place by a metal buckle. With this bracket there’s no need to fix the PSU to the case with the supplied screws. It’s advisable not to do so if u moving your pc around. Directly in front of it is a slotted device for organizing cables.

This case able to slot in four hard drives. Each hard drive bay works like a drawer and equipped with anti-vibration rubber ring suspension to prevent the noise produced by the spinning of the hard drives motors to propagate to the chassis.

user posted image

Removing it is quite simple actually. Remove the thumbscrew and then pull up the bar that acts as a lock to the hard drive bracket. And you can take the hard drive bracket out.

user posted image user posted image

The hard drives module also features the tool-less securing bracket, the plastic latch lifts up and you can place your drive into position. Again there’s no need for any screw. Take note that this hard drives module able to equip 2.5” SDD but requires screw fixing it.

Another interesting feature of this case is that you can rotate the hard drive bay 90 degrees. You need to remove five screws. First screw located on the top of the hard drive bay, and the remaining four is on the bottom panel.

Installation

The thumbscrews for the motherboard are a good idea, still my hands are big, the CPU cooler are big, no way to squeeze in, so had to use the screwdriver after all. All done, installation was smooth and for the tool-less features, well I hate to admit it (coz I hate tool-less design case in the first place) but they’re really are top notch. I gotta say Lian Li have paid meticulous attention on their tool-less design. Unlike other brands I work with, I find their tool-less feature rather errr… use-less! rolleyes.gif

Wow at RM350, this case looks very worth it! drool.gif
But...
How is the gap between the plastic covers and the casing? Have seen lights coming out of the gaps.
Are the washable filters easily obtain locally, in case we want to buy spare?
Also you think possible to fit in a EX-H34B?

possible to change the top and front fans to 12cm?

Yes I'd seen one in Sri Computers in LYP, it was unboxed, so i was touching it, feeling it and examine it very very closely for quite a while, until the salesperson looks at me with that annoyed looking face to f*ck off. laugh.gif It's a proper gamer's kinda casing. Especially with that kinda price. nod.gif

Is it safe to say that the PC-62 is a refined or pimped out version of PC-58? hmm.gif
The PC-58 looks to me to have the same structure and similar design, but without see-through panels and unpainted interior.

Pretty nice review btw TS. thumbup.gif

The mounting holes are for 140mm fans. You can try 120mm but have to find your own way of securing it to the case.

This you have to improvise a little bro nod.gif The holes of the 14mm is far apart if u want to install 12mm
The zip ties are your most easiest option.
And why do you want to change the two 14mm in the first? hmm.gif
Do you have those 'red/blue/green LEDs 12mm fans' or nicer fans to want to replace them 14mm?
If so, than its understandable... nod.gif

nice review there.

i especially love the removable air filter at the front to clean/wash.

my stacker stc01 also got the same design, but the filters are not removable...hence difficult to clean...

hopefully, my "new" casing, which would be a lian li wink.gif , are not that difficult to maintain... biggrin.gif

kudos to you for a nice review.
