After reading as much advice as I could on the forum, I decided to go to Wen Hing in Jalan Ipoh

I was going to buy the Panasonic TH-P42X10C with the free Camera, SD Card, and HDMI Cable for 2800rm
(I really wanted to get a full HD 42" Plasma for about 3000rm) biggrin.gif

While I was there they offered me the Toshiba Regza 42AV550E and the JVC LT-42EX18 as alternative, saying that these are better than the Panasonic.

I drove back without buying as I don't know enough to make a decision, can someone please help? blink.gif

What should I buy for around 3000rm, and where should I buy it from? (I live in KL)

I'm no AV guru, but imo you should take the Panny.

If the Toshiba and JVC were better, why did the guy offer you?

They told me that the Panasonics suffer from more glare and that they sell most of these to dealers. Smart people buy the Toshibas blink.gif

First thing - It is very obvious that the salespeople there are getting better incentives from the other 2 brands.

If you have decided on the Pana, then I think you are pretty much made up btw Plasmas and LCDs. The other 2 are LCDs hence, I dun think they should be even considered when you are set for a Plasma.

Regarding specific models, RM3K thereabouts shud be able to make it for the FullHD 42S10 model sans the free gifts, so you shud be in fact considering btw the X10 and the S10 instead.

GDLK.

Thanks Lone Wolf

I don't know enough to be able to decide if Plasma or LCD is better, I just want a TV that is a bit bigger to watch Astro and DVDs on.

If I could get the FullHD 42S10 within my budget I would be very happy (I don't care about the free gifts)

Can anyone tell me where to get the Full HD Panasonic in KL within my budget please!!!

I wanted to get my TV today but now its too late, so maybe if I know where to go I can get it tomorrow thumbup.gif

I think you are referring to the model TH-P42X10K. The salesman say this model is HD Ready only (with resolution 1024x768).
RM2800 for this model (+ the free gifts) is very cheap.
Carrefour Subang Jaya has this offer at RM2999.

The model that is Full HD is TH-P42S10K (S Series).

no regrets with the Panasonic 42inch plasma Full HD S10K la.

much cheaper than a LCD tv, picture quality for astro and movies is much better, and the S version don't have the glare like the X version.

the only downside is that you have to break in the plasma tv. that means no black bars, no still images and no video games for the first 100 hours of use.

i bought one for my grandma to watch her astro. i hook it up to the astro decoder with a RM6.50 carrefour S-Video cable and the picture quality is fantastic.

I did not know that you have to break in a plasma?!

I do not want to confuse things, but I also followed Lone Wolfs advice and found the Toshiba Regza 42RV500E 'Full HD' for 3059

The main uses for the TV are:

Play XBOX 360 games
Watch standard DVDs (no HD or upscaling)
Watch Astro

What do you all think? Panasonic or Toshiba?

The Toshiba got an amazing review of 9.7/10 on cnet Asia http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/home_av/tvs/0...4080381p,00.htm thumbup.gif

most games got HUD mah.... usually most games will display some areas which won't change like your HP bar, or character portrait or something that will leave a mark on your plasma tv if you play the same game for too long hours...
