Hi guys, I need some opinion here. Is it worth to buy a ps3 just for this title? I am a FF fan since NES era, I've played almost every FF related games and FFXIII seems to be a biggest title ever in FF history (look at the development, publication, hype, etc.). My problem is I don't really have time and interest for gaming other than FF games, I may not even play other games except a few titles like FFvsXIII so most of time the ps3 will just sitting there or acting as a blu ray movie player.

IMHO is not worth it to get a PS3 just for this game, esp if you're a RPG lover
*
Why is that when I'm a RPG lover not worth to get ps3 just for this game? If FFXIII is having a PC port then it'll settle everything...
I know getting a RM1k plus console for merely one or two title doesn't justify the cost. That's why if there is other use for the console beside blu ray player to justify the purchase?

TitaniumZ,

Considering the amount of work and effort that have been put on this big FF13 and FFv13 titles, it's certainly worth to get a console for the title. What you can do will be selling your PS3 after those title to cut the lost to minimal.

You will never know, like my case, I bought my PS3 solely for MGS4 and FF13, but now I have bought more than 10 PS3 titles. I'm not saying that you WILL spend a fortune on games, but I'm saying the urge will eventually come. Maybe you can borrow from you friends or rent, it'll be a great idea to expose yourself to some other genres and amazing titles with cutting-edge presentations (such as Uncharted 2, dante's inferno, GoW, KZ2, bayonetta etc); and not to mention playing blu-ray movies, which restrains you from spending another fortune on another player.

In terms of value (which I think you may be spending more than 100 hours on FF13, and another 100 hours on FFv13), durability (I'm looking at you, Xbox360), and functionality (online functionality, HD gaming and Movie), it's certainly worth to get your hands on a PS3 when the title is up,  if without any delays, 43 days later.

I never regretted for owning a PS3 even I have had a gaming PC myself, it's a different experience despite its hardware limits compared to a gaming PC. Still it comprises a library of quality-standard games, which PC games have failed to achieve due to a bunch of indie developers that may technically turn a brilliant idea to an awry IP.

So that is what I think, may rationality drives your decision. Good luck =)

rclxms.gif Thanks for the input.
Actually I bought my PS2 back in 2002 just because of the FFX bundled, but I was a student then. Now I have family with kids, so I really need a good reason to pursuade my wife since she and the kids are more into Wii laugh.gif
Anyway, usually English/International version will have some extra features so I'll wait for it instead of Japanese version. Hope that there will be FFXIII bundled pack sold then.

I found on Play-Asia
Final Fantasy XIII (English language Version) - HK USD56.90
Final Fantasy XIII (Japanese language Version) - HK USD85.40
Final Fantasy XIII - JP USD89.90
Final Fantasy XIII - US USD64.90
What's the different between them?
The price different so much, better get the HK English version hmm.gif

R3 version is cheaper but u may get some chinese words on your box art.
*
I'm fine with Chinese word, I'm a Chinese anyway. Not big deal. That's over RM100 difference.

The japanese version is always more expensive (Japan pricing). But they get it this year. We english speakers will only see it March 2010 smile.gif
*
Well I can read Katakana, Kanji (of course), and some Hiragana that enough for me to play the game but may not fully understand the story. And that RM100+ difference is not to be overlooked. So I think I'll get the HK English version.

I asked the difference between them last night. Seems like very good deal to get the HK English version if you don't mind it's R3 (might be R2??)
Or safer option would be pre-order the US version by toping up USD8.00

Why is it safer to preorder the US version?

Well from the advise I got one might get R2 instead of R3 but the US version will be R1 for sure. If don't care about *possible* DLC (there could be none, who knows?) then just get the HK English version. This is to my understanding, by the way. smile.gif I'm noob to PS3 laugh.gif

main story part still ok but sometimes those Submission tat have u travelling and collecting certain item (like the FF12 part where u have to look for ppl to trade for the coin one) u will get jammed.
SE should just make a Chinese version like what the Gran Turismo offer. Since there are lots of Sub group and fans group out there doing translation. Those party should be able to translate the whole game since they can do Super Robot War which is a text heavy game (but take a lot of time since most of them are volunteer onli).

That's where the FAQ comes handy brows.gif
I can fully understand Katakana and Kanji, but lacking in Hiragana; now if the Japanese and English version cost the same I'll get JP instead. In fact compare to EN the JP will have more "feel" especially those magics/moves. Simple example: Omnislash and 超究武神覇斬, the coolness level is 0% to 100%. Just too bad JP costs RM100+ more than the EN... sad.gif

Most of my friend is chinese but the way they pronounce the name is diff due to diff. in pronoun cation between japs people and chinese people eventhough the kanji word is the same.Probably Lightning=Liang Xe or Snow =Fei Mao.
*
Kanji amd Chinese characters are different. Japanese borrow Chinese characters to use in their language, thus the Kanji. The same goes to Korea Hanja. By the way, Lightning and Snow are in Katakana form, not Kanji.

My wife's comment after she watched all the trailers:
Playable characters - All the cool one are girls; the males: a polar bear-alike brawler, an afro, and an underage pappa's boy.
Eidolons - Transformer, no doubt.
Lightning - If she ever wants to ditch her feminine side, why would she have to wear such a short miniskirt?
Snow - What? His name IS Snow? I thought should be polar bear or something...
Yaag Rosch - Ok, finally some good-looking guy. He is bad guy right? Normally good-looking male character in J-animes/games is bad guy afterall. Eii? That scar looks absolutely familiar...
Chocobo - Awwww, sooooo cute. Play-Asia has its figurin available for pre-oder? Get one for me. Is there a Moggle?

Actually the prices of games are not fixed. They are adjusted to living costs of different countries. That's why US version is slightly more expensive than HK version. This is what I heard from other forumers.
*
Does that mean when the JP launched the pre-order price for HK (EN JP) and US will be revised? Then I'll have to make my order before 17-Dec, even I haven't got myself a PS3...

who gonna buy the ps3 slim final fantasy edition? looks awesome to me..im gonna grab one ! since im the biggest fans of this title.

I wish to get one. I purchased my first PS2 with FFX bundled when I was in Australia, and this time I'm going to get a PS3 solely for FFXIII; but the warranty may be a headache, so I'm still considering.

1 thing i concern about preorder at PA. I saw the english version price was much more cheaper than Japan Version. Is that just addon CD? Do I need to purchase the Japan Version as well???
*
doh.gif No. English version is just cheaper, that's it. If you are totally clueless about Japanese just get the HK (Asia) English version. That's the cheapest one you can get.
