Just bought UFO series, coz wanting to play x-com style game. I am still hoping that gog will reboot the x-com franchise.
*
Frankly, I like the UFO series in term of story. Its more engaging than XCom.

But XCom gameplay is hard to beat.

Theres a good story behind ufo games? But then again even i couldnt remember what x-com story was, was to busy trying to not die.
*
I found that UFO: Aftershock and UFO: Afterlight being well written and interesting.

It tied with story of UFO:Aftermath.

UFO Afterlight being the best of the series.

The earlier version were quite buggy.

Going to finish ufo aftermath. damn i didnt know if was going to be very tough near the ending of the game.

Those alien incendiary rockets really hurt. Even with bio armour on.
*
Have you faced those weird bees / insect stuff?

Ridiculous I tell you, those thing can wipe off the entire squad in a blink of an eye.

The best way to kill them for me is to spot'em first and take them out from long range.

Oh, the big worm which spit insects. Those projectile are considered as hard damage but since their insect size projectile. No amount of protection can take it for long.

One thing i hate is when starting it wasnt so bad, once i had researched the biomass. Then the aliens started having heavy firepower like their rocket launchers.
*
Surprisingly the story for all UFO: After series are pretty well written.

Also you have two choices in Aftermath, can't remember in relation to Aftershock.

Yeah, i accepted the reticulans offer and game over, very disappointing. I just found out why i couldnt research plasma rifle or laser rifles since i didnt research another thing which i skipped. Going to finish the game soon but it takes me 5 days to complete 1 set of bio armour.
*
You can also reject the reticulan's offer and get a different ending.

Aftershock is a lot easier compared to this.

Since you can get better armor and also have good allies.

Weekend deal for this week:

Special RPG Promotion, selected titles 50% off

Selected Titles as follows:

1. Sacred Gold
2. Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator
3. Spellforce Platinium
4. Stonekeep

Septerra Core doesn't seem to work in Windows 7. Tried it when I had my 19inch LCD monitor instead of the 24inch LCD monitor.

septerra core seems worth it for rpg lovers.

2d graphics still looks good to me.
*
Septerra Core is more like Final Fantasy.

Quite buggy on Windows 7. Can't remember whether it was playable under Windows XP.

Don't really like it because it cannot BEAT the ultimate old game which is X-COM UFO Enemy Unknown, Terror from the Deep and Apocolypse!!!

You guys should try out Master of Magic. 1 of the best turn base game that involves resource, city, spell and army management. 1 of the best DOS game out there!
*
XCom now being revived as a FPS.

Doesn't seem like there will be a weekend deal for GOG this week.

There's a countdown in their main page.

Probably going to release Master of Orion series.
