QUOTE(Ninja @ Jan 24 2010, 03:17 AM) Been using this for 1.5 days; I must say it's a great phone. Maxis still cannot configure 3G settings. They said to me that maybe Q2, maybe Q3, if and when Nokia ever launch this product in Malaysia. Do I need to change over to Celcom since I like the phoneI'm using Celcom, and no setup needed for 3G. After inserted my SIM card, the phone automatically downloaded the settings. No MMS though, but not a problem for me since I never use it. The phone already comes with a few apps, but they also have some good applications on the Ovi Store and they're all free up till now. Battery life I can't comment much since I'm at home the whole day; phone attached to adapter; so dunno how long it will last in one charge. Photo/video quality from the camera is quite good. Photo is sharp with vivid colours. Will upload some sample later if I have time. |

Looking at the number of users, there must be many maxis 3g subscribers there. Is it a problem with maxis (they do not want to help..), my 3G sim (which works fine with my N 73), the n900 hardware/ firmware, or my settings (after following every advise and instruction), but mine does NOT connect to internet! ... would it help if i promise 100RM to the FIRST, who ever gives me the settings.

QUOTE(kiawin @ Feb 5 2010, 10:54 PM) i ditched maxis on the day i bought N900. hahahaha ... then I 'off the phone' and 'on the phone' ...maybe you can try this.. my 2 cents wild guess. go to "Settings" -> "Internet Connections" -> "Connections" button Edit the "Maxis 3G WAP" (should be something simlar?) Press "Next", Access point name: unet username: maxis password: wap Press "Next", Press "Advanced", Tap on "IP Addresses" Tab, Just check "Auto-retrieve IP address" and "Auto-retrieve DNS". Press "Save", Press "Finish". Does it work? and still does not connect! Thanks for your 2 cents Added on February 5, 2010, 11:24 pm QUOTE(chicaman @ Feb 5 2010, 10:45 PM) Not really: Internet connection failed, try again? QUOTE(Andy214 @ Feb 6 2010, 01:25 AM) Thanks bro! Yup, looks good; about same rating with Ori. My N900 is sick... It is HOMESICKDo you have many widgets running in your desktop? I have quite a lot which I believe contributes to the battery consumption. I turn off the fb widgets as I notice it keeps render, I think it'll drain the battery life faster. Qvarna, I was able to use 3G when I first inserted the sim card into the phone. But yesterday, something happened. Suddenly I get the same error as yours "Internet connection failed. Try again? Y/N". Later I call up Maxis to check if the 3G service was down, and to my surprise they have this phone in their database already. Previously, I login my maxis website to configure my phone, the N900 was not listed. Anyway, the person send the configuration settings to my phone, but to no avail, it still can't connect. I check the settings, there was no username and password provided. I remember previously there was. Thus I googled and found the settings as mentioned by kiawin previously, set in the username and password. Initial try, it still failed, but later I try again it was able to connect successfully. I'm not sure what's wrong with yours, maybe you can try check: 1. Your phone network mode? GSM? 3G? Dual? 2. Have you tried using 3G on other phones before? Oh, btw, I also encounter failure to connect to 3G today at Subang Parade, not sure what's wrong. I got disconnected then I can't connect to 3G. I notice the network switch from 3G to 2.5G to 3G to 3.5G. I retry few times then I'm able to connect again. Not sure what's wrong, maybe something to do with the reception? So maybe you can check if you're able to connect to 3G on another phone at the same location and then try it again with your N900. Good Luck! None of the maxis sim cards want to connect internet. The error comes within a fraction of a second. So, is there a simlock or something with the cards. Both cards, btw, surf well with other Nokia phones. Here comes the trick: When I put my Finland (!) service provider's sim card, the phone connects to Internet without any further settings. However the maxis roaming does not work, only Celcom. So what did i eliminate: The hardware is OK, Firmware is a ?, do the regional settings play a role, since Malaysia is not available in my options? Is there something in my maxis subscription that makes the card invalid in the N900 only... Isn't this strange? |
