if there any other options available?

try:
1. in the conversations screen on the contact, touch and hold your finger on the message and a pop up will appear, see what options are there and try cancel or delete or something similar.
2. touch the message it will bring you into the single message screen where you can delete. I believe yu have tried this step.

if not it could be a bug that needs to be reported. not sure if its been reported. if it has, most probably it'll be solved in the next update.
