QUOTE(zero_kbom @ Oct 25 2009, 10:11 PM) yeah..check it outthere is a lot of discussion on what to do with n900 or maemo 5..and the best thing is, a lot of developer join the discussion too. some of the topic i like -> n64 emu, slr style control over n900 camera, topic about games/apps to be ported to n900 etc and can join with the n900 enthusiast community on all over the world |

QUOTE(Rikef @ Oct 27 2009, 04:28 PM) Where r u N900.. iPhone is too crippled/restricted for me. I'll be waiting for N900 or SE Xperia X10 (Rachael) ... lightyears ahead of iPhone Added on October 29, 2009, 1:33 pmi'm desperately need a new phone.. i cancel my plan tu buy N97 or iPhone but seems like this MONSTER very far to arrive at our local market, so i decide to forget about N900 n buy iPhone 3GS.. If you prefer the formfactor of iPhone or the capacitive touch screen.. wait for SE to announce the X10 on Nov 3 first (superior hardware specs and "non-closed" Android OS This post has been edited by hsyong: Oct 30 2009, 02:04 PM |

The FM receiver app for N900 seems to be working nicely now:
http://maemo-freak.com/index.php/reviews/a...cool-looking-ui Btw, I really hope at least the full specs and initial reviews for SE X10 appear early next month (Nov)... so I can make my decision |

Any news on the RRP for N900? Satio's RM2300 is really tempting...

^ Hell yeah now really wanting it more
Some other tidbits for all. Its the FM radio ui on N900 As all of us know that Nokia was so smart in providing the fm receiver n transmitter on N900 but didn't provide the app to use it. Luckily the community take the matter into their own hand and develop an app for that ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() * taken from here |

QUOTE I have bought an N800, and let me tell you that the Maemo platform is crap for a very simple reason: no binary stability !! http://www.reddit.com/r/programming/commen...rs_perspective/What I mean is that each new release of the OS changes system libraries and breaks a non trivial percentage of existing applications. Many applications developed for the N770 won't run on the N800 due to ABI library differences. My N800 went through several OS updates, and each time this crashed at least one of the installed apps I had. Also some applications you find on the web won't work because their author didn't want to rebuild them for the new hotness (the fussiness of the SDK might also be responsible for this). At least Android doesn't have this problem. That's probably why they have more than 10000 apps on Market, while Maemo has been in existence for far more longer and probably doesn't have one tenth of this number available. So much for the "ease of porting existing apps" stuff... |

if the maemo doesn't have that many developers supporting apps for it, it may as well be its downfall. for sure.

Well it depends on how you perceive. The inverse can be found Here
n900 is much like a pc. Very much it's easier to port from PC application to this midget. If you're talking about available apps, well nokia has went ahead with Qik if not mistaken. This means app from symbian can be ported to maemo. n800 and below are device which didn't grasp much of the market due to the nature of the tablet device which did not come with telephony feature. Anyhow, Andriods are much easier to develop as compared to maemo. But then again, if you're a power user, N900 should put you at the edge. |

All I can say this phone is not for the faint heart. It's much complex as it seems.

Fennec beta walkthrough. The browser is good, easy to move about. But I still prefer the original mozilla browser preloaded in the device. The gesture zoom and kinetic scrolling is just awesome than this app. But then again this have add-on support. Yes you hear me add-on, this app can support add-on similar to firefox which can add-on plug-in. Anyhow, here's the video. Enjoy.
