i just read online that at&t did an upgraded version for blackberry bold 9000.
it has visual voicemail as one of their added applications. my concern is our
phone is not tied to at&t do you think its safe to upgrade to this version? heard
it fixes the memory leaks and increases battery life

"AT&T has approved the BlackBerry Bold Maintenance Release (v4.6.0.508). This release, which provides several enhancements, will become publically available on August 25, 2009 including via OTA.

What's New / What's Changed / What's Launched
A number of enhancements are contained in the Maintenance Release including:
AT&T Visual Voicemail (optional feature)

General handset software optimization and improvements

Capability to set the device to "2G only" for better battery life and coverage in some international roaming situations

Additional VPLs including My-Cast Weather, Wiki Mobile, Mobile Banking, a few games and more.

The Maintenance Release will be available to customers to download from August 25, 2009 and will be available from www.att.com/bbdownloads."
