*
nokia pc suite 7.1.30.9 got known issue with backup. streamyx connection was shitty when i tried to update, so terpaksa use VPN via singapore route. the speed was awesome! smile.gif

anwyays, running on the latest firmware. decided not to restore my backup. did a hard reset and reconfigured everything. phone is quite responsive now.

i realised theres an update on the Nokia Email in the new firmware. there is now an option to highlight email contacts and add into contacts directly from Nokia Email.

i used to curse and swear everytime i have to view detail, then copy the email add, manually go to my contacts and update.

glad to see that Nokia Email is moving forward.

Nimbuzz new version is out. It now supports popup notifications!!  rclxms.gif  drool.gif  So you leave it in the background, it'll popup any chat message to your main screen if there is any. cool! nod.gif
*
wow, pop-up feature is good. will give nimbuzz a try.

ok i just realised e71 has 1 limitation with WIFI!
assuming u are using corporate wifi and there is a need to put a proxy in to surf net, there is one limitation.

If your company is using BlueCoat Proxy's which rely heavily on Active Directory, u will need to key in a domain account name and password. However e71 does not allow you to key in the domain acc and password as there is no settings for that in even in advance config..
Gawd DaMN!
*
E71 allows you to configure proxy. i think a few post back one member explained the steps on how to configure your wifi to use proxy.

as for number 2, i doubt it's just E71 that has this limitation. but if i'm not mistaken, shouldn't all proxy username and password be prompted via the web browser? just like when you use a laptop, you don't configure a proxy with it's username/password into the wireless profile.

Yes it should be prompt by web browser. however if its not prompted, it can be added into the proxy profile.
My opera mobile shows the popup but nimbuzz does not. I guess its more towards application problem more than the phone. But i believe the phone should also have this function of adding the username/password by default as an option to use in a corporate network. This is afterall a business phone so im curious how Nokia did not see this coming.
*
the phone can't join AD and authenticate with AD or any AAA servers like our laptop. so yeah, 1st limitation is on the phone, then secondly is on application.

probably the only mobile os which allows to join AD will be windows mobile? hehehe

Hi All,

for those of you who would like to sync your outlook calendar to your E71 but can't, due to company policies which does not allow your E71 to connect to your company's exchange server. No worries!! because i've found a way to overcome it smile.gif

Things that you need:
1. Gmail/Google calendar account
2. Google calendar sync application installed in your laptop that you use for outlook
3. E71 with MfE installed

In a nut shell, how it works is that the Google calendar application will sync your outlook calendar from your laptop to your google calendar account. you then create a MfE profile in your E71 to sync with your Google calendar. Presto...you're all set smile.gif

Feel bad for you. Maybe from now on , only get original stuff especially original warranty ones.  biggrin.gif

I know everyone is talking about the new firmware , but I'm just too lazy to reinstall all the software.  blush.gif  Please let me lie to myself that the new firmware doesnt do any huge changes.  laugh.gif

better upgrade to the latest firmware....you don't know what you're missing brows.gif brows.gif

u need to let the battery fully discharge - fon must be fully out before recharge. its full charge/DISCHARGE cycle..

mine is 'optimal' now.. tongue.gif

i think i had this problem long ago..no more after firmware upgrade.. blush.gif

hmmm...full discharge kah? i scared if full discharge, our Li-Ion battery will rosak. as i've read before to never let a Li-ion battery go completely flat as it will decrease it's lifespan...

ask red queen wat package he is using.. as i known he is using maxis to online as well
Yewps, i'm using Maxis's corporate plan. RM150 commitment with all the above mention, but i have free unlimited data plan. nowadays i see the corporate plan, don't include unlimited data plan.

depends whether your company got nego with Maxis for better plan or not.

So u know what is the requirement to have corporate plan? as i know my company atleast have 100-200 company line withhin maxis, digi and celcom as well.

My company HR admin staff wont check all this 1. They just know my allowance is rm150 then just ask maxis for 150 plan only.
but maxis should advise them since the line is registered under company name.
As u can see the business plan is more benefit than value plus, and both still pay rm150 as well.

Wow..unlimited data plan some more.  hmm.gif
but atleast still have free 500MB now.
*
usually maxis will approach a company to offer their corporate plan to that company. so there's not much requirement.

anyways, i saw alot of corporate plans now don't come with unlimited data already. so i guess i was lucky smile.gif my gf is in PWC and maxis gave them corporate plan also without unlimited data. only 2 phones came with unlimited data for the 150 plan. 2 not very attractive phones....

furthermore, i can just top-up another rm30 extra to enjoy unlimited Maxis BES/BIS......hence i was contemplating whether to change to blackberry or not.

but unfortunately, im not allowed to connect back to company's BES server so i don't see a point of getting a blackberry as my E71 can do pretty much everything a BB can.

actually if you're looking for unlimited data, why stay with Maxis? you should cahgne to Digi. get their rm80 commitment plan and then rm48 unlimited data package. meaning rm128 only per month. when my current Maxis plan expires, i'll definitely port to Digi. i hope they maintain this kinda attractive packages.

Bro.. When a phone cost more than a thousand... There is a need to go for ori.. Bcos if anything happen u can go to any nokia service centre.. But in ap.. U r only able to deal with the shop which sold u d phone.. Dont even mention to me small ap or big ap.. All ap r d same.. They chgs urs things in ur set such as battery, cable, earphone, memory card..etc.. Wat u get is wat u pay for if not wat d ap seller untung.. They sell d ori part separately so they can untung on a later day..
On the question to upgrade from e71 to e72 is down to u.. Do u c the point of paying extra for 5mp camera, fp2, faster processor and bigger ram.. Well to some they r willing to pay for it as they c it as an extra.. But if u find wat the current e71 hav to offer is sufficient then i dont c the point of selling ur e71 for rm800 then paying another rm500 for something which i dube as almost the same.. Firmware  or software compatibility wise e71 still win.. hardware wise e72 triumph by a bit margin..

Wat d different from current im? IM+ is fron nokia or self install?
Mr.philip
Jus install garmin 500.05 set the background service to disabled ..solved all ur problem..
*
IM+ is not from nokia. it's not a freeware either, need to pay. i see alot of my friends on iphone using it. it supports a wide range of phones...just wondering what so special abt it thats why wanna ask if anyone here using it.

Ok cool, thanks for your help. Still thinking whether i'm gonna get E72. =/
It's really a hard choice to make right now lol, seeing E72 just makes me want a piece of them. sad.gif

Btw i'm curious about this, what if i'm buying Zitron/avaxx set from normal phone shops like Atlantis from SS2 PJ, will they swap the original stuffs with cheaper AP accessories? Because normally when we're buying phones from normal shops the sets have  been opened before and it's not sealed right? To be safe should I buy it from nokia center if i'm about to get E72?
*
well, to me i wouldn't pay that extra for E72. go look in E72 forum, i hear quite alot of complains. Garmin for one is not working well. the trackpad is not as awesome as bb's one. but i guess its personal preference though.....for me, if i were to upgrade my E71 means i'll go for a blackberry. E72 is not significant enough for me to upgrade from E71.
