my i5@3.8Ghz super pi 1m was 11.422s on its 1st run and then i try to run it again.. guess what the time increase to 20s
anyone knows what happen here?
edit: it was the c3/c6... state,should put it on auto instead of enable.

guys sometime my screen goes black for a sec then back to normal but before it goes black a single thin black line will appear vertically across my monitor,experience it a few times already.
GC prob? or RAM? my ram setting at bios is 9-9-9-20@1.65<-(the actual ram setting stated by the manufacturer was 9-9-9-20@1.7v)
should i set the vdimm to 1.7? btw my i5 is @3.8Ghz/Vcore is 1.33
hope pros in this thread can guide me on overclocking my i5.

edit: no bsod, no auto restart, no hang apart from the thin vertical black line and screen goes black. pass 1 hour of linpack with no error,prime95 still running(about 1 hour+ already) and also OCCT.

it doesnt happen anymore after i revert back to default optimize setting in bios though,my monitor is perfectly fine on other pc.
this morning i did switch my GC slot coz i realize from GPUZ it only running at x8 i dont think this is the problem..
also stressing my GC using furmark for about 5 minutes no sign of artifact and hanging up.


update: culprit found.. increase my vcore to 1.34 problem solve

so much diff in temperature between core,normal?

1st pic was before i reapply thermal paste,now tops at 67 when running prime95 which is still hot.
maybe coz my room very hot like those container house.
using megahalems btw.

i wonder hows the temp others get with their megahalems on high ambient temperature.

my ocz same rated speed as your running at 1520Mhz@9-9-9-21 with 1.6v when put to auto.
my timing abit loose though.

megahalems.. sad to say that 3.99Ghz@1.32v only last 1 hour + before it goes into BSOD on prime95.
turbo boost on btw.

currently testing it again for the last time.
update: OCing with turbo boost on will result in BSOD after certain period of time
idk if u were to increase the vcore with turbo boost on will make it stable and how much voltage it needed compare to turbo boost off at 3.99Ghz.

get megahalems instead coz it cheaper,same performance though.

P55 UD4P + OCZ + megahalems
not so nice mine though,but performance wise more than enough for 24/7 usage.

my 4Ghz attempt
i got my 4Ghz stable on pretty good vcore.
next! tweaking the ram to run as fast as possible

seems that its quite hard to make DDR1333 ram stable @DDR1600
i got around 3000MB/s less on memory write and read when running @DDR1200 compare to DDR1600.
any pros here can tell me how significant that 3000Mb/s is?
im having hard time adjusting my ram @DDR1600.

whats your RAM frequency? DDR1333?

then you should not have any problem running it @1440.
try run memtest 1st before running prime95 after you adjust the timing and voltage.

im not pro in RAM overclocking,but i can tell that it depends on your ram chip,cooling or setting whether u can reach 1800 or not.
u can try though by adjusting timing and voltage,my DDR1333 seems to struggle even at DDR1600 which only last around 2 hour on prime95 before getting error but stable on memtest and IBT(10 loop@2047MB ram utilization).
whats your vcore anyway? your temp are very high.

here is my 4Ghz stable
Ram only run at DDR1200 but i have adjust the timing,should compensate the low frequency though.

yup i even run IBT and memtest to make sure.
it was unstable at DDR1600 so i have to lower down the ram frequency and end up with DDR1200.
bios vcore is slightly higher than the vcore display on cpuz.

not more than 75C while running prime95?
