what will happen if we dont provide deep substrate for burrowing sp to burrow? will it stress them severely n leads to death? or ive read that if no deep enuf substrate, they'll just spin lotsa web to make their hides..

Don't know- I've always given my obligate burrowers lots of substrate. What reason would a keeper have for not giving a burrower substrate to burrow in? I have seen burrowers in pet shops sitting in a stressed position but pet shops don't really have a choice- can't sell the T if the T is in a hole! ETA: Don't know if they all will spin lots of webs but I have a WC H. lividum and a WC H. schmidti that would not settle down for a few months. The cobalt took to the burrow but would not web, just stayed in the burrow during the day and roamed around at night. The H. schmidti would hide among the silk plants and would web a little. Both settled down after they molted and have adopted their burrows now. This post has been edited by Oldfart: Aug 29 2009, 12:46 PM |

I think the term 'pet holes' do a disservice to these T's cause they are usually quite visible- except for one of my cobalts, all my pet holes can be seen almost on a daily basis. |

Why you wanna stress your t out?
and by saying that you tend to give out false info. Then people will get the wrong idea about animals. Person 1:" EH THIS THING VERY AGGRESSIVE LOVE TO BITE PPL." Person 2:"WAH THEN I MUST KILL IT WHEN I SEE IT LATER IT BITE ME" get it? This post has been edited by abesabraham: Aug 30 2009, 03:44 PM |

An adult roach is slightly larger than a pinky (length wise), not sure about weight though. it works mr stew^^ last time u posted this and i follow ..... second day, it has had it own burrow dAdded on August 30, 2009, 2:41 am Did you start a burrow for it? I set mine up like this... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Most of my haplos will find the hole within the first night, some will start expanding on it the very first day. I used to set the hole up on the side, I still do sometimes, but since they usually hang out at the mouth of the burrow it does not really make much of a difference. One nice thing about burrow entrances in the middle is you will get a volcano when they start expanding on it. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

A settled down T is not an active T.
By 'no power' you mean you kacau it, it don't move as much? Or in general not moving a lot. |

Which made me think it was the dark form schmidti. But now its gold again... |

Also discovered my female T. blondi is not gravid, looks like she is going to molt, her butt is darkening. On the not so good news front, one of my 'female' longipes turned out male. Hope the other one is at least a female or I'll have to go work something out with the vendor. This post has been edited by Oldfart: Sep 4 2009, 11:18 PM |

oh god!u are lucky!
my opinion is,it looks like a mature male tarantula,u can see there were hooks on tibias with a boxing glove like figure at the pedipalps, and that is the reason u can find this little guy when he was on his may looking for the female.perhaps if u are able to follow it's footstep,u may find the female. but since now u already brought him back, the only thing u can do is to id him.i guess it would be some sort of Coremiocnemis, but u know they should'nt just judged by appereance.i wonder how the female will be looking like.nice one mate! |

thats what i thought as well, its genus is Coremiocnemis.
is there any possible i can buy the female from anyone? was thinking to breed them as their population is decreasing and they havent been really verified yet... |

only the genus confirmtion can do nothing, furthermore, the genus is just our guess,it might turn out others.
even if u got the genus right, how bout the species?hybrids cant work. if it happens that we could do nothing, then relese him back, expect him to meet the female. |

i am not sure my decision is like you think.
i was thinking to turn it to verified by someone that knows about them. may be by prof that i know, i am not sure. but put it back to the wild will be the last resort where no one can verified it or not interested in verified it. i can find no references, that's why the specimen is still important. |

Wow, did not log in this thread for a bit and it's 19 pages already? Finally finished reading all 19 pages and here's a summary to my replies.
1. Congratulations to all that have acquired new T's. Me included (pat on the back) as I have a few on the way from Eugene and Tunemystylez hehehe! Not to mentioned those I got from Rafiq 2 weeks ago. 2. Great job on the promotion and education by Andrew and his team in Penang. 3. My slings have been molting as well and its great to see them growing bigger. 4. Welcome to all new T addicts. Its good to know that there are others in the same boat! 5. Mental note: Must enrol at Unimas if T's do "walk-ins" so frequently. |

QUOTE(ch0c0cheeze @ Sep 9 2009, 07:11 AM) Para para expert sekalian, All I see is a brownish thing with some black markings. Whatever it is, I am so darn curious now. Got any better pics of this orb weaver? Can you tell me what spider is this? I caught it hanging on my curtain. It doesnt seem like normal spider because it looks big to be normal spider but too small to be tarantula. I measure its size is 1 cm from head to ass and after i put it in the transparent kotak it just climb up and start curling like in the pic for infinite hours. Before climbing up it look like walk cacat abit maybe when i catch inujure the behind leg. And i notice it didnt jump like normal spider but crawl around with the cacat leg. Can you tell me exactly what it is? [attachmentid=1187795] |

--... during my attempts of taking pictures of my T's I had the experience of my lifetime..
The rosea was quiet and even crawled on my arm and stayed there for about 10 minutes.. then it darted to my face...== (maybe it likes my nostril...) My murinus (dash) was very quiet today... It moved slow and pose for a few pics.. before he jump to the edge of the container. Before i could even close the lid, it ran onto my hand and off the ground.. scurried away under my coach. Murinus= fast & furious. Moved my coach, It curiously stayed there. i blocked his escape and cover it with the lid. so he;s safely back in his home.... fheww....!!~~~ pics going up as soon as i find out how to upload it from my cousins cam.. LOL |

QUOTE(rideon @ Sep 10 2009, 09:49 AM) actually im more interested in Haplopelma sp.. It's crazy when you think Cambodians pay 10-20 cents for a fried T and the hobbyist pays 25 bucks for the same WC animal!yes they are expensive.. but if u have contacts n some knowledge of bargain-ing.. then its no harm in trying... Typically they aren't in high demand and a lot of WC adults go for pretty decent prices here. Even the CB slings are pretty cheap- there's just no demand for haplo- I guess most people think they don't get to see it much. |

Been reading up on pedes! Not a whole lot going on in the T-room. I've a few T's coming but I won't see them till the end of the month. I'm also trying to find new homes for some of my NW T's- got to make space for pedes now! |

well, received the package at around 2pm..... everything goes well until around 5 o'clock, i wanted to rehouse it,so i left the container OPEN inside my room..tot nothing will happen as before i went to prepare the new housing, it stay still there for quite long time...when i go back to the room, i found the salmon pink is GONE!!! my 6th sense told me it wont gone anywhere far...so i kept look for it.. i looked for it from 5pm something to 9pm something, i even moved all my funiture out of my room....but i just couldnt find it.... at around 9pm, i found it inside my cupboard...it is too black i guess, i looked inside the cupboard for more then 3 times already, but didnt see it.... i dont realise it was there until i touched it(on top of my jacket).i was shock when i touched it....all my roomate laughed at me....>< |
