It is better to get the water for T as clean as possible,so soil is unnecessary imo

 Just discovered my smallest lividum is a male!   Also discovered my female T. blondi is not gravid, looks like she is going to molt, her butt is darkening. On the not so good news front, one of my 'female' longipes turned out male. Hope the other one is at least a female or I'll have to go work something out with the vendor.
