I have really dark underarms although I am fair. I think it could be due to a combi of deodorant and sweat and shaving hair build up. How does one whiten those areas? Any tips?

smile.gif exfoliate your underarms frequently to peel away the dead skin. You can always use a pumice stone to exfoliate those dead cells. If you're using deodorants, avoid alcohol-based ones.

smile.gif If you often shave, switch to waxing instead. It's painful at first but you'll get use to it. You'll notice some minor bleeding (petechiae) but don't worry coz it's temporary.

smile.gif after waxing/plucking, apply some baby oil or simply use the oil wipes available inside the wax strips package. DON'T PUT ANY OTHER REMEDIES as they work as irritants. you wont want your underarm get burned!

smile.gif other than that, you can use NATURAL YOGURT and spread evenly a think layer on the dark areas. Leave it for at least 20mins. Rinse with water. Repeat this method every week and you'll notice some changes.

smile.gif You can mix the yogurt with a zest of lemon and apply the mixture on to the dark areas as mentioned above. Both lemon and yogurt work as best natural bleachers and exfoliants.

p.s: Do bare in mind that the last two methods will only show results if you do it often.

some deodorant can cause skin darkening... why not try underarm hair removal?... did mine @ dermagenesis... it helped with lightening the skin as well as no more having to shave smile.gif

Alcohol? It's the alluminium compounds in the deodorant that make the skin dark. Hunt for those that do not have any alu compounds. If you experience itch and skin peeling it maybe due to the alcohol content.

Thanks for your constructive advice !
However, i noticed that after plucking, the underarms skin will get rougher instead .. as in there'll be ' something like goosebumps' (i don't know what is that called) and it's quite obvious .. any way to reduce it ? or this only happens when u pluck ? hmm .. hmm.gif

May i ask WHY would you want fairer underarms?

Just because an advertisement pops out on TV promoting a product which lightens underarms, doesn't mean that having darker underarms is ugly or undesirable. What's with this kind of mentality where people are easily influenced by advertisements? I don't get it... sweat.gif

Its best if you find a local indian saloon where they offer threading/waxing rather than doing it yourself. i tried waxing once.. by myself. and all i got was sticky fingers and little hairs still intact. i swore to never diy wax again. if you must, try epilating or plucking. NEVER ever shave. the hair gets coarser, trust me. I am still solving how to reduce those darkness under my pitts due to deodorant and shaving in the past. ugh.
