the heatpipe isnt a normal steel rods
it contains some chemical inside to transfer heat efficiently into heatsink alu fin types la
i once saw this lyn guy oc his pc until his heatpipe blow up and burn his hands with those liquid that xploded with the pipes

just that this repair doesnt solve the heating issue but solve certain issue which makes the xbox run
but its not a 100% repair with a proper prevention made in it
so since u got hit by it after virgil repair it ur pretty much out of luck
u can always try other they have their own points of view to feed ur xbox need :|

or just separately sell the parts off
the dvd rom is good stuff for others to replace their fauly dvd roms

read the front page and identify ur error code and see what are the failure/success rate and who are the gurus that fix it and look for them ?
