I just noticed that I have been given a warning by Baronic on 9th August about a piracy link. Maybe something I posted but I do not know what exactly. How do I find out what I did wrong so that I do not repeat the same mistake? shocking.gif

maybe you can ask Baronic to point out your mistake and some link to your post or something..  wink.gif

Hope he will let me know if he see this. I am very disappointed because I have not come across any other poster with the warning mark. I was not given a chance to apolozise or to undo my mistake. sad.gif

On FP under HOW TO UPDATE FIRMWARE therw is something about Flashing your Bricked/Dead Nokia 5800 phone. Can this method be used to downgrade firmware? Have anyone tried downgrading from V30 to V20 successfully?

Added on September 2, 2009, 10:16 pmMore woes with Garmin after Upgrading to V30 in addition to inability to lock without A-GPS. Today when navigating, my position (vehicle) did not stay on the road in the map but on the outside edge most of the time. Very weird. Perhaps error in calculating my position. Reinstalled Garmin to no avail. Wonder whether other people have encountered such problems. Any solution? rclxub.gif

that's weird... i upgraded v30 also few weeks ago ... i hav no problem getting a lock.. just gotta wait awhile.. then will b locked ... i'm using the integrated gps (i-gps) ... no prob for me smile.gif  if i switched to A-gps within seconds i get locked already.

With A-gps my phone can also lock within a few seconds. If I disable A-gps and then restart Garmin I still can lock very fast. However, if I wait for a few hours or overnight it is back to square one....difficult or impossible to lock with just Integrated-agps. There must be some reasons for this. Inputs from Garmin/GPS expert will be very much appreciated.

it's not A-GPS
it's normal GPS, free wan
2nd time connection on the same place is way way faster

This is true for a short period only. After a few hours I find that you need to enable A-GPS again in order to lock, even at the same location. No such problem before I upgraded firmware to V30 from V21......anytime, anywhere can lock with just Integrated GPS. Only the time taken may sometime be slightly longer in some cases. If you use Garmin regularly it is advisable not to upgrade now. Wait for V31 when hopefully the problem will be resolved. A-GPS may not cost much per locking but it adds up. Furthermore if you travel outside Malaysia you will encounter more problems because you need to buy a local phone card in order to use A-GPS and setting up your phone to connect to the positioning server can be a nuisance with a prepaid card depending on the moble phone service provider

Most likely firmware V30 is the cause of many of the problems with Garmin.

my 5800 was dead ... after downgrade the firmware ...  now cannot on my phone.. what should i do..
*
How did you downgrade......is it by using JAF Emulator? Have not heard of anyone who have successfully downgraded Nokia 5800 firmware using this or any other methods. Have you tried dead phone flashing as suggested in FP?

Using only integrated GPS you can wait until the cows come home and still unable to lock! That's my experience vmad.gif

Hmmm....i think it has nothing to do with the firmware...again....tried locking near my office during lunch time. Wait until i'm too hungry, so gave up. I must go home and try it at home again...maybe better satellite signals at my house since it lock so fast last night?? rclxub.gif

I think the reason you were able to lock very fast previously was because you did it not long after you disabled A-GPS. My observation is that once you have locked using A-GPS you will still be able to lock very fast for a period of time with just integrated GPS. Wait for a few hours and you are back to square one and need to enable A-GPS again. Why I do not know. I have posed this question before in this forum and never get any response. V21 is still the best in terms of locking speed and reliability as far as GPS is concerned.

Maybe Nokia wants us to use A-GPS brows.gif If we can use the Tube with just integrated GPS then we can go Offline and just use it as a portable GPS device, music player, etc....especially useful when we travel to other countries.
