you also need a clear Line of Sight(thats why people mount to the windscreen), generally with a-gps turned off, it will take you 2-15minutes depending on the condition.

nokia5800+garmin does not do well around tall buildings, disconnection is very frequent as I experienced near KLCC area where all the tall buildings are.
