Hi, really need help here.

My phone bill suddenly booming to RM3++. Usually its only below RM100. When I checked the bill, almost all of it come from 3G usage. Been using this phone for half year but never got the bill like this.

What I realized, this month I surf a lot but via wireless LAN not 3G internet. And I'm pretty damn sure I used WLAN. I called Celcom service centre and he told me that probably I use 3G without realizing it. He also said that may be I was not properly turn off the 3G. It is possible? How I can make sure this will never happen again? How to turn off or possibly disable the 3G internet?

one of the way to solve ur problem is by subscribing to their unlimited data plan

another way is try to delete the access point

You can use 2G instead of 3G. Normally i will use 2G all the time unless i wanna make a video call. So that you wont have any problem to use 3G without realizing. It save battery life also.

Press the white menu button, select "Settings", select "Connectivity", select "Network", select "Network Mode", select "GSM", select "OK", then press the red button to go back to the front page.

If you want to go back to automatically selecting 3G networks when available, repeat the above process but select "Dual Mode" instead of GSM.

sorry but i really think your solution doesn't help the guy in the earlier post hahaha

he wanted to off 3G internet to save bill, not to save battery. IINM, 2G bill and 3G bill is still consider as DATA and it has the same charges unless u are subscribed to certain packages lar...

To the original post guy, u can differentiate what type of connection you are using by checking out the connection icon ... make sure it is the wifi icon not the 3G or 3.5G or 2G or anything else. Did you upgraded to v30 recently ?? just curious

Yup, I already upgraded to V30. I always checked the connection type (icon) before every usage. I also set the phone to ask for connection every time it need internet connection (update software, maps....etc..).

Actually, this is the 2nd month the bill more than average. At the same time, it also been 2 months since I installed wireless router for my home network. But last month because I out station a lot, I use the 3G with the daily or weekly broadband unlimited service. So, the bill is accepted although if calculate correctly, the total bill shouldn't reach RM300. It the same as I'm not subscribe to the daily and weekly package because even with the 4 weeks subscription, the total only RM80 (RM20/week) or RM180 (RM6/day).

But this month, after getting last month bill, I carefully not to use any 3G service except for two video call to my supplementary line (it suppose to be free). I only connect to WLAN not 3G internet. So, RM300 is outrageously high for normal usage. I even set the limit to RM100 sad.gif.

Well khew82's solution probably is the best way because other than video call and 3G internet which I rarely use, I don't need 3G.
