based on manga with same title. tsundere type i guess, hate male (due to some circumstance), really strong n best of all, student council president + maid in 1 package. perhaps this will be good shoujo anime. its been quite sometime since last nice shoujo anime. n its only been announced, im not sure when it will be premier.

yeah, this is a shoujo anime, specifically romance comedy. no theres no yaoi scene in the manga (so far that ive read)
not much ecchi either, but the lead female character is a tsundere

It somehow gives me that Special A vibe. Either way, the anime starts off on an interesting note, and the artwork style is something that I'm rather fond of.

And at least the main female lead doesn't look like she's gonna become one of those generic tsundere archetypes. And yay for no moe/Haruhi-esque art.

To me, it has its ups and downs. However, if it becomes stale like the manga has, I might drop it halfway.

Opinion? Still inferior to Kimi Ni Todoke and Kare Kano.

Agreed. Kimi has a soul, this one is a yawn inducing, cliched school romance that I seen like bajillion times. Same shit, different bucket syndrome.

for me, kimi ni todoke is also same ol' shiet with cliche 'unpopular'/seem ugly character who is actually beauty inside n same shiet of most popular/hensem guy who seem to fall for her cliche.

just that Kimi ni todoke is better compose than this one, otherwise, i would still scream n headdesk over this same cliche shoujo stuff. hence the saying, kimi ni todoke still under "Same shit, different bucket syndrome."

Just watched it on animax last night.Ok la not bad.At least not like typical 1-girl-surrounded-by-group-of-handsome-men shoujo like anime.Eh?I never read the manga, so will there be another 5 handsome men chase over this seito kaicho?If the story only stick to this guy Usui Takumi guy then I'm in coz I've been longing to see normal romantic scene type anime between 1 guy and 1 girl regardless its shoujo or shonen.

i dont think kaichou wa maid sama is categorized under shounen manga. it feels more of a shoujo manga to me.

Shoujo is very distinctive. Flowers in background, wide sparkly eyes, long-limbed, slim characters, focus on one female character surrounded by bishe males.

most of them are like that, some of them are only focused on 1 female and 1 male.Example like Kimi no Todoke,Paradiss Kiss,Kaicho wa Mai Sama and Kare Kano.

Hmm, I should amend that to "major female lead surrounded by beautiful-looking friends".

I can't recall the last time a shoujo manga with a relatively unattractive looking "sidekick". If there was any it would be "that is in the past" and they would come back looking thin and beautiful.

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (sp?) would fit the bill.

cliche #1: ugly or frightening unless looked closer to reveal the beauty underneath which only the best friend(s) and/or main love interest(s) would notice.

Yes, Maid-sama! is Tokyopop's titling of the series. "The Student Council President is a Maid!" is probably too long to be marketed.

ahhh just watched Ep 1 a few days back. Last night watched Ep 1 (bits of it) and Ep 2 back to back. LOVE THE SHOW!

can't wait for more episodes. and hopefully got Misaki toy come out for Revoltech or Figma.

Shoujou = all boys will looks cool and calm, while the girl protagonist is a spoilt girl.
Shonen = all girls will looks cool and calm, while the boy protagonist is a pervert.

Didn't read the manga so expecting some good stuff from the anime.

1st time I saw a shoujo anime which focused on the moe-ish of the main female character rather than typical shoujo anime which always focus on yaoines of the main male character.
