QUOTE(lostasylum @ Aug 27 2009, 06:20 PM) i think it would be good to see if arsenal can hold their own against MU without having fabregas. the young ones have acquitted themselves well against celtic yesterday.... besides, if he's not fully recovered, i'd rather not risk it. i don't think we will be outplayed like we were last season in the CL. Yeap, this weekend will be the 1st REAL test for us... With all due respect to the teams we've played so far, they didn't put up much of a fight... I hope we come through good this time |

QUOTE(sakaito @ Aug 27 2009, 06:37 PM) Anyway, vermaelen was caught offside.. i LOL. hehehe I'm quite worry about Sagna. Last nite, he got exposed a couple of times and that Donati goal was from his side. SAF will take note of that and use Evra/Rooney combo to attack on that side. it'll be a long hard day for Song and Sagna. Speaking of Vermaelen i'm actually very very impressed with the way he has settled into our defence but like i said, the real test comes this weekend... Well, i think if wenger goes with his 4-3-3 against MU this weekend u won't get to see Evra romping down the left wing that often... He isn't the tallest of fullbacks and mayb our new system with Bendtner there will limit his forays forward thus providing some sort of cover for Sagna |

QUOTE(Gr3yL3gion @ Aug 30 2009, 10:45 AM) That's called playing for the penalty dude... It's a skill to bait the the goalkeeper and anticipate the challenge and win the penalty... Thus, it's a more than legitimate way to win the penalty... The goalkeeper has committed himself, rooney's in full flight, there WILL be contact already... Straightforward penalty.... No arguments about that... |

QUOTE(Gr3yL3gion @ Aug 30 2009, 11:11 AM) So now a player just have to kick a ball beyond him and fell down waaay before an on rushing keeper touches him? Lol... It's a risk u'll have to take... When the challenge comes, u'll have to get the timing right and make sure the keeper makes contact with you... If u get it wrong and there's no contact in the end, then u kinda "get caught" and it's deemed a dive...Hey AW, let's practice this. |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Aug 30 2009, 11:37 AM) Take a step back, listen to what you are proposing, and realize that the two things you are saying are in fact one and the same: a dive. You sir have just gone two notches down the ladder. That's the problem with the "dive" ruling you see... It's the intent of the player to draw a foul from the opponent... If he successfully baits the keeper / defender, well and good, but if he fails and there's no contact made to the attacker and he tumbles, yes i agree it's a blatant dive... The issue with this ruling that most people have been puzzled about is, how in the world do u judge "intent"... That only the player playing for the foul would know...Anticipating? That's almighty rich. Added on August 30, 2009, 11:49 am QUOTE(ic3rock @ Aug 30 2009, 11:39 AM) No matter how, keeper job is save the ball. From last nite match, Almunia dint touch the ball at all. If last nite C.ronaldo was the player, i think he will keep spin on the field, then show his painful face. Even im Man Utd fans, but i see his face like that also feel sian, LOL. That's the blunt truth unfortunately... Almunia indeed did not get the ball and made contact with Rooney and thus it's a penalty....Don't get me wrong tho, i'm a Gooner fan as well... Jus trying to see things from a more neutral point of view as i understand that we all feel hard done by the charge against eduardo and we have a penalty awarded against us.... QUOTE(CAPTAIN JJ @ Aug 30 2009, 12:17 PM) damm it lousy arsenal .......how many times u want to dissapoint ur fans.....enough is enough!!!!!!!! pls admitt u r not good enough to claims the best teams in EPL with this kind of performance. I think overall the teams lack of experience and few good player . We definetly need to strengthen the squad. Arsene pls wake up stop dreaming ......with ur current squad u r going nowhere again. Another dissapointment ..........as a fan cannot tahan. In Wenger we trust... Nuff said... Make so much of money and spend the less in EPL!!!!!! truely english men business worst than chinamen businessmen...... Again 2nd highest income in EPL last season, top 5 highest income in the world .......do u guys know that .....and yet how much they spend???????? dun even u dares to blame de stadium...........more then enough to pay installment afterall...........all goes to director pocket.... As long as this club is still own by this group directors ...arsenal are going nowhere. yesterday arsenal performance are good but not enough to be the best yet.......and stop blaming about penalties ...if we r really good should have bounce back immediate by scoring 2 or 3 goals . |

QUOTE(kimhoong @ Aug 30 2009, 12:23 PM) Chill up brothers and sisters... Well said... At least M'sian papers aren't that harsh on us... The Star's back page... "Lucky Devils" LOL...Even though we lost yesterday's match, we haven't lost our faith considering our performance and fight we had put on the match. Last match has showed that there are plenty of positive expectation what our team can do. ... after all, it is an away game in Old Trafford. |

Gosh... How long is this argument gonna continue? Isn't it quite simple? If there's contact, it's a foul, if there's no contact it's a dive... No one can call "intentions" besides the player himself...
Added on August 30, 2009, 11:54 pm QUOTE(sickx @ Aug 30 2009, 11:52 PM) Classical example of "playing for the foul"... And very well executed... It's purely legitimate...This post has been edited by punditski: Aug 30 2009, 11:54 PM |
