Coke/softdrink can be used to treat oxidized metal mostly due to its weak acidic chemical properties (it's a carbonate). You can use any weak acid to have the similar result. But beware of ants if you use them!!!

weak acid?
mean vinegar also boleh?

The acetic acid in vinegar will do the job. But remember, the effect of weak acid will be limited. DO NOT expect it can treat a heavy-rusted metal.

lol, coca-cola.

2Al + 3O = aluminium oxide
2H + Co3 = Carbonic acid

2Al + 3Co3 = lol? (huh?, aluminium carbonate?)
H2 + 0 = water.

take a look at this...

my ex-Hyper TX2 after coke bath...
notice the pipes near the copperblock shines more than the pipes near the fins eh...

user posted image
Cooler Master Aquagate S1 waterblock before coke bath...

user posted image
after coke bath... unlike the hypertx2 which shines like new... this one still looks dull

user posted image
then i use Autosol to polish it...

user posted image
now it looks way better

user posted image
2nd round of polishing... WOOT mirror finish

Added on November 20, 2009, 6:24 pmthe hyper tx2 was well taken care of and did not oxidize much...
and the aquagate s1 is just lurking around and badly oxidized...

the aquagate s1 took 1 full hour of coke bath and tx2 only took 30 mins
