I'm sorry for making a thread but I really need help on my problem. This is rather serious and problematic and it's driving me crazy.

The thing is, when I connect my iPhone to my computer (Windows Vista), it automatically installs the driver for the phone. BUT. It only installed the digital camera driver. So now, my computer only detects the iPhone as a digital camera! iTunes is not able to detect it!

I have searched for solutions online, and there are some solutions which worked for other people.

Here are some similar solutions I've found online which is the ACTUAL solution which will work:
http://www.ankurshah.net/blog/?p=20
http://geekxperience.blogspot.com/2008/01/...nes-doesnt.html
http://www.iphonefans.com/troubleshooting-...ize-iphone.html
http://iphone-chat.org/itunes-wont-recognize-iphone-1019/

What I've learned is, you have to somehow change the driver in Device Manager using the steps as in the links above. I have definitely tried that of course, but somehow after searching for the drivers in the Apple folders, the Update Driver Wizard somehow tells me that Vista has already installed the best software which is Digital Still Camera, and I can't continue any further.

I did navigate the location to the folders but to no avail, it keeps telling me that it has already installed the best software.
Even when I uninstall the device, Vista will automatically install it as a digital camera.

Please, experts. I am actually desperate for a solution as I can't sync my iPhone on iTunes. sad.gif

I am currently downloading the latest iTunes. But I am quite certain reinstalling iTunes won't solve the problem. :/

I actually DID delete the whole driver. But Vista would just automatically detect it and install the camera driver AGAIN.

AM I DOOMED FOREVER? :/

when I plug in the iphone into my xp it also asked to if I want to install the camera drivers. I selected to cancel.

You should do the same when the thing pops up.

Okay, let's try this:

1) plug in the iphone
2) it should detect it installed and load the camera drivers
3) open device manager and look for the camera drivers. Uninstall this driver.
4) to be save, click on View then Show Hidden Devices
5) look for all other camera drivers and delete them all (if you got other camera drivers then you can install back later)
6) Plug out your iphone and reboot PC
7) install itunes
8) after itunes is installed, reboot PC again
9) after reboot, open itunes first then plug in your iphone

If this doesn't work then something is wrong with your PC. If that camera driver installer pop up again, just cancel it or select never to ask again.

Step 11 stated you should reinstall iTunes. From http://geekxperience.blogspot.com/2008/01/...nes-doesnt.html

I think It prolly work. It's quite a detailed solution. Try it.
