no idea..i read some reviews saying that 3 cell can last for 3 hours plus..so 6 cell should be around 6 hours also..

I m thinking of getting the 11z. Currently considering 10v, 11z or 14z.
Was looking at 10v but read reviews saying Atom based Netbook has performance issue & the reasonable price@RM1399.
14z was also on my list however, @ 2kg & RM2349, it moves it away from being a netbook. Thus luckily 11z appears.
Anyone has one yet ? Want to know your personal ownership experience notworthy.gif

did you consider dell 13? i found out the size is not much bigger than 11z too.. only the weight a bit more and thickness...now i am concerning hows the su4100 processor performance..but not much review on it yet..
and i also just realized recently su4100 is used in dell 14z and 4810tz timeline series..selling price is rm1999 without os and 1gb ram and rm2399 with vista home premium, 2gbram, 320gb and dvd writer..

Actually, I already own a HP notebook which i lug around to work everyday. What I require is a smaller size one which I can bring a long when i go travelling. Thus main requirement is small size, lightweight & long battery life.

Other than that, I intend to use it to interface my Clavinova piano to compose some music. Thus I intend to run software like Cakewalk or Cubase on it. I also hope that it can run Visual Studio 2008 Express edition, so that I can do some development work when I am the road. (Actually, I hope it can also run virtual PC, but I think thats probably pushing the limit rolleyes.gif )

On special offers, I think price will go lower towards Christmas. However, I am doing some heavy travelling towards Nov - Dec so I might not have the luxury to wait for price drop.

i've gone through the spec list, and there's no VGA out, only HDMI out... it's difficult to connect to projector for presentation coz most of the projector still using old VGA...
is there any HDMI to VGA connector?
*
Seems like there's a thing called HDMI to VGA cable.

I have also placed my order for this 11z. rclxms.gif Now waiting for delivery.

have u receive yours?  care to give some brief comment?

I ordered but seems like DELL delivery is slow. They put a target of 5 Nov for delivery date mad.gif
I am suppose to go travelling on 29 October and have informed them to meet my requirements. The 5th Nov is really overshoot their promise of less than 15 days.

ohh ic...thx for the info. guess my choice is pretty obvious now smile.gif went to dell's website and customised the dualcore 11z. ended up with RM2661 =.=  2yr extended warranty and draft-n only leh
*
In my opinion, main purpose of netbook is for basic computing needs only. Over-customizing might not add value (if you get what I mean) smile.gif . It maybe better to get one of the other types (e.g Inspiron 13).

Because it is weak when compared to plenty of other processors out there. Discounting stuff that are already outdated, or three thirds of the way there.
*
For one thing, this pseudo-netbook (note that its not classed as a netbook) can go to 4GB RAM compared to Atom based ones which max@2GB. This increased RAM probably will improve yr performance for apps like photoshop. However, I suspect that fullblown Photoshop CS4 might be sluggish but with this "class" of computer, you should only be running photoshop elements.

Lesson learnt for those intending to purchase :- Please wait for DELL special offers of discounts. I bought it too soon as they offer the RM100/- discount the next day. I asked them if I could add the coupon but they said cannot as already ordered. vmad.gif

Also still waiting for it to arrive next week. Will post some review once I get it. smile.gif

what would be comparable model from HP etc to this Dell 11z - i know there is this acer timeline model
need something light -12-13 inches, no dvd drive ok
*
I would have stack it against HP Pavilion DV2. (12.1"). However, might be disqualified as it weights >1.8kg.

asus ul20v overpriced lah...RM2699 for a mini??? Totally defeats its purpose

Yah... For the price & specs, looks like 11z is the best bet. However, have to compromise on some of the creature comforts.

I manage to get my 11z last week. First thing I did was to install Windows 7 Ultimate on it. Speed wise is ok. I didnt expect much from this machine. I had installed Virtual PC on it. Manage to get my Win2k3 vhd running but performance is too slow. I have not tried Photoshop but performance for other apps are acceptable.

Pros
- Bright & clear screen
- Almost normal size keyboard.
- Most apps runs well
- Touch pad gestures saves time once you have master it.
- Long battery life (6 hrs)
- 3 USB port + 1 HDMI + 1 LAN

Cons
- Not nearly as light as I wanted it.
- Touchpad sometimes misunderstand (e.g. I accidently zoom in quite often)
- Six cell battery sticks out. sad.gif (If you carry yr notebook in a bagpack its ok, however, if you are a notebk sleeve person, this will not do)
- Fingerprint magnet..

The battery that sticks out actually make typing easier. Also, I wish they had offer to package 2 x 3 cell battery.

Can you say why you chose the dell 11z over the Asus UL20?
*
Didnt see the Asus UL20 for comparison. But went for DELL because can buy it online.

oh no...you got the celery one?. should have gone for the SU4100. big performance difference tho. however both your configuration and the SU4100 is not suitable for virtualisation.
*
If I was going for the performance, I would not be getting a netbook smile.gif I had been trying out virtualisation on 11z. The Windows 7 virtualization doesnt work because it really requires a processor that supports virtualization (hyperX?). MS Virtual PC 2007 does work and I had manage to get it to load . However, after testing, its not recommended as well, though it works, it gets jerky. (Could be that I was running a Win2k3 vhd with MOSS sharepoint 2007 loaded tongue.gif )

Thus, I would say, this pc is strictly for "low" power usage and travelling purpose.
