I just came back from Singapore, checked on the Sony pricing there. It's crazy! The 70-200G is selling for $3500. Which is rm8750. sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

I checked on Canon pricing as well. Very very very expensive. Looks like KL is the place to buy electronics nowadays. Singapore is no longer the electronics haven it used to be.

Driven to driving a taxi despite having a PhD - in Singapore . Being hailed from the nearest neigbour - Jb, I always knew that Singapore will go down with its blossom economy one day.

I bought an optical slave from digicolor - however it suits only with my f58 n not working with my f42.

don't care bout their economy n pricing, Singapore still rocks in terms of sheer variety though. there r so many things available there that Msia don't have. the Sony Style shops there got all kinda stuff, even got pink floral straps for Alpha!
that's y I only go around looking for hard to find things not available in Msia. Otherwise it's much cheaper to buy normal stuff in Msia.

Am I the only 1 who thinks Sony is making their SLRs more n more like cartoon style. I mean, cmon maaaaan, I think most SLR enthusiasts would prefer more serious looking bodies in mainly black n not these fancy schmancy colours n textures on the bodies right? They should make the bodies look serious like the A900, A700, A200, A100 last time. All black n mean looking.

[ianho: I was just at Sony Style at The Curve; they have the pink handgrip strap, and the big ladies' camera bag!

In Singapore, they have shoulder straps, handstraps n everything in pink, florals, diamond bling blings n all man. Hehehe. At least The Curve got some for the ladies.

Any monitor u buy oso will need calibration unless u buy pro monitors. Those pro monitors will be as close as u get without calibration. But those monitors cost a nuclear bomb. The so called best camera shop in Singapore(Cathay Photos) is damn awesome in that respect, they use NEC pro in the shop.

Wah now only rm7500. Plus the 70-200G at rm5700 will only come to rm13200. Sony pricing is pretty darn good now. Only thing I don't like is no Live View n HD Video. sad.gif

Just wondering do you guys use the High speed memory card for ur camera? The sandisk Extreme III, the price seems high.. 8gb for rm 280 while d normal one just rm 200.

Does it actually make a difference? currently my A100 using Sony memory stick... when viewing photos r fast enough.. just when zoom 100% in ..like will lag 0.25 sec. not a big deal for me.. is Sony memory card consider high speed?
*
Buy the Kingston Elite 133X very fast oredi. That's only like rm80 for 8gb.

No wonder i find it ok in my A100.. The new memory card im getting is for A700. so wat best n economy memory card for it... Ianho, the Kingston Elite 133x?? good enough? Rm 80 vs Rm 280 is a lot of difference....I can save d money for smthing else like lens filter  thumbup.gif

I hav to do a serious budgeting after ordering the A700... though got it quite cheap but it comes with nothing... not even memory card. Now looking for a lens to go with it.. if getting a SAL16105 it will cost round rm 1650... A700 bought for rm 2880... + memory card n lens filter another rm 200 perhaps... total damage = rm 4730  rclxub.gif

How much was last time A700 bundle with kitlens Sal16105 when it first released? feel like is not really cheaper by a lot even i bought it now 2 years later. sweat.gif

I think IR has been discussed last time in this thread.. but i kinda missed it... mind summarise for me wat was it actually? Infrar Red? is For black n white purposes n sepia ? make the picture contrast stand out in bw??
*
I personally use the Kingston Ultimate 266X on my 40D. I also have the Elite 133X n tried it in the 40D n both are ok. I hafta point out that my cam has a 75 frame buffer though, so I've never felt any slowdown even with the slowest cards while shooting at 6.5FPS. BUT the slow cards really very slow when reviewing the pics on LCD. The 133X should be fine in ur A700.

this thread goes so fast, i am already lost =.="

as per the kingston x266 cards, i realize that anything above 4GB lags on the a200. the same is NOT true for sandisk or other brands. -.- there is no such thing as cheap and nice when deleting a single image takes 10 seconds doh.gif
*
I've never had any probs with KIngston Ultimate n Elite 4gb cards on my A200. Both blazing fast. Even the el cheaspo A-Data Speedy 8gb was damn fast. Urs must have incompatibility issues or it's faulty. There IS such a thing as cheap n good. The A-Data 8gb was only rm 200 when my Kingston Ultimate 4gb was rm380. It was just as fast at double the capacity n costs only about half.

cheap filters will screw up ur IQ. It introduces lotsa reflections between the front element n filter. I fully agree with mr memorable, buy CARL ZEISS for Sony lens! brows.gif

ianho, roughly how much does it cost for a basic setting..

Those tables they sell are proper pro set ups. IIRC about rm600 cheapest. U can actually set up ur own for very cheap oni. Go book shop get some cheap white plastic sheets for few dollars. Go Ikea buy 2 of the fluorescent table lamps for rm50 each, kautim. Of course not so nice but then for rm100 cant complain much lor. Those tables u buy oredi havent count lights sumore. By the time u add those pro lights it's gonna cost at elast rm1000 i think.

Just to make sure u get the lamp I'm talking about. It's this 1.

The lamp comes with warm light tube. Very yellowish for taking pics. So if ur lazy to do PP like me, change the tubes to daylight so it's pure white light.
