suggest u to wait for A900 actual replament model... smile.gif

might as well get the A550.... superb ISO... 3" screen.. unfortunately A350 body like.. but the IQ matters most...
end of the day, try to minimize the PP work on the PC.. get the best output always from the camera..

well, the EXMOR-Rs are already in cybershots, which i am itching to try. they supposedly live up to expectations, so i'm having above average hopes for them.
sifu, optical slave mode in fill-flash trigger only right?  hmm.gif
*
yeah Exmor-R is great for low light... some issues with exposure in bright lights causing artifacts or something... cant remember exactly,, learnt about this a while back... Sony cant allow this issue to crop in the DSLR market.. many uses this for landscape & outdoor,., so they will make it perfect for larger sensors & MP...

i have had experience with the EXMOR-R handycams, and its obvious; if you are wearing night vision goggles and someone were to shine a torch at you, you'd be blinded too, which is why i'm waiting for the cyber-shot models which incorporate the sensor to get a tasting of it first.
*
yeap.. and some daylight outdoor issues as well... give Sony some time,, from some images taken on A550/500 they have really improved the circuite wise... after DxO intervention... smile.gif

DxO also provide consultation to Nikon,, now we can see a level playing field,,,

kev da man: Yep as you see it DxO 5.3.4 makes the A900 look a lot better. biggrin.gif

Er, what problems do Exmor R have with bright lights? Any links?

What I've seen so far is superb stuff. Excellent ISO1600 on a compact!

nickilala: The F20 is far more useful on the A850 and A900. Otherwise its only benefit to your A700 is that you have a tiny bounce flash which only bounces in landscape mode. The F58 is far more useful on the A700 - you get to use the F58 on camera to trigger other flashes on the A700/A850/A900. Of course, if you have only one flash, then you use the A700 pop-up to trigger the F58 off-camera.
*
cant remember the source, but it did put me off from buying the Handycam XR520V... coz I do video shooting as well... the low light is excellent no doubt.. but some sensor issue in bright lights or something... Sony do intend to implement the R sensor into DSLR.. but not until they perfect it yet...

DxO v5.3.3 onwards supports A900... on torrent only v5.3.2... damn...

v5.3.5 just released to support A850..

hi albnok, i will try it next time, but wats is the dynamic range optimizier function... when we need to turn it on to + or other level.. pls advice me, thanks.
*
simply put it,, it will bring up the underexposed (shadow) area of a high contrast image.. (warning, noise will be more apparent at the supposedly shadowy areas)

best used in high contrast scenes (daytime outdoor)...

Wah now only rm7500. Plus the 70-200G at rm5700 will only come to rm13200. Sony pricing is pretty darn good now. Only thing I don't like is no Live View n HD Video.  sad.gif

use a focusing chart to test if your lens is suffering from front/back focusing or not as it will be more accurate.
the AF might mis-focused sometimes due to the fact that the AF covers a large area (esp when u are focusing on a small piece of subject)...front/ back focusing will be more prominent when you are using the widest aperture and for this case f/1.4....

get ur lens fixed if it has the problem, else it will be very annoying..isnt it?smile.gif
erh, having video is a plus for DSLR esp during vacation where you wana capture some special moments in video. imagine already carrying 1.5kg of gears, you wouldnt wana carry another camcoder and would love to do it with ur heavy gear smile.gif some may say the quality sux and this and that, but as said it is a BONUS to have that feature smile.gif
AFAIK, sigma 24-70 DG EX has gear stripping problems on alpha but I tot that HSM will prevent that problem happening...Yes?No?
*
for me, vacations will be my handycams, small and light... otherwise, a cybershot... smile.gif

i dont want to lug my $$$$$ camera + lens around..

Just wondering do you guys use the High speed memory card for ur camera? The sandisk Extreme III, the price seems high.. 8gb for rm 280 while d normal one just rm 200.

Does it actually make a difference? currently my A100 using Sony memory stick... when viewing photos r fast enough.. just when zoom 100% in ..like will lag 0.25 sec. not a big deal for me.. is Sony memory card consider high speed?
*
if you are in the A900 range, it makes a hell lots of difference... lag reduce, faster viewing, faster writing.. etc... more pros... 1 con - more expensive..

for 10MP cameras, dont really need Extreme 3 and above...

fully agree with u....  capacity does make diff in speed.....  i tested my a300 shoot burst mode w my old CF...  128MB & 512MB.....  they can read n write even faster than 8GB tongue.gif
*
check the card spec before buying...

ur JPEG/RAW + Megapixel influences the choice of your card...
if using A900 + RAW/X-Fine Jpeg, definitely at least ExtremeIII and above..

for A100/200/300/350/700 JPEG = 133X Kingston is more than enough...

another thing, when the card is almost full, it slows down abit.. notice this on my CF ExtremeIII 16GB... about 70-80% full, then the slowness creeps in...

i'm using Sony 2700mAh rechargeables... all bought same time..

having weird situation...

1st pair (4pcs) - doesnt work properly (long to charge, discharge too fast)

2nd pair (4pcs) - overheats alot...

3rd pair (4pcs) - perfect (500-600 shots or more)

basically, the performance is inconsistent..

rm60 for 2500mah batts that tahan 1.5 years of usage in flash........I got no complains man. I scared to try exopensive batts oredi, all dissapointed me.
*
probably its down to luck... sad.gif

for me 1 out of 3 pairs is working perfect, another pair overheats alot (causing my F58 to jam more frequent), another pair is just plain useless...

but in terms of performance, i can rely on my 1 good pair compared to alkaline batteries.. faster recycling.. more shots..
