I am thinking of replacing the stock HSF. Currently using gigabyte n680sli-dq6, problem is the heat pipes on the mobo is causing compatibility issues with the choice of aftermarket coolers. Water cooling is out. Too complicated for me, maybe when I go quadie than would look into that option.

my current reading is core temp at 50 degrees (idle), 70 degrees (100% utilization)

thanks for contribiting.

Update on my reaserch. Those that need to mount back support bracket. Can't use. So those high tower coolers are a no no. (i think?)

Compatible CPU that I found so far are
Scythe Ninja PLUS Rev. B
Zalman CNPS9700

I think the basic intel design by only using push pin? should be compatible.

best heatsink

hey dude but there are quite a lot of threads here to help you with this question
mind using them?

look for the "EWW HAIRY LEGS thread" and that should be the best to link you everywhere smile.gif

btw the backplate by gigabyte is removable so you can actually remove it and then install a tower hsf with a backplate smile.gif
if not just go for something with a push pin system like you stated above

thread closed yeah to prevent spam smile.gif
PM me if you have further questions
