yes my friend...we judge our team not on the statistic...we judge it by performance on the match yesterday, from there we discuss, what is wrong and what is right....things happen for a reason...and we want more from our team! .... gracias!

Here's an early report at work; MU colleagues talking / celebrating like they have won the cup already (don't really blame them, I'd probably do the same vice versa) and some major embarrassment of a Liverpool fan make it far more unbearable for me. He was whining non-stop over the referee for not giving us the PK. I was asking him to chill out but soon stopped as he is just plain unreasonable. Kopites we are, but blind we should not be.

In my own opinion, we were totally lost / aimless in the first half and I am just glad that Keane didn't manage to make the score worse (thanks to Reina). PK or no PK, we lost the game. It's only one game and to top it up, it is only the first game. The team will get back up and we also have the Stoke City's game to look forward to - let's hold on and stop the whining over referee / Rafa.

it was a disappointing result. we were done by set pieces. guess the team needs to wakey.

We will not win the league with such displays.

encouragingly we will have to have the midfielders & the defenders to provide better rhythm & I still have faith of the team & the fans of LFc 'Believes' the team can.

I now totally agree with DukeRed, being optimistic towards the season is not something we fixed in mind..but even the 1st match of the season, we have been fooled around by the young boys Spurs..

All credit to Harry..

To,

Glen stop appreciating people who lifted you up..talk bout what you going to do for this club now!!

Where will Aquilani fit into when he's match ready??? Gerrard to move deeper? AA playing just behind Torres...???

We got no creativity last night... We lost the plot in the midfield entirely...

Yes, still too early to say. Man U lost more games than us last season and still win the league.

More important is we draw less and win more games!

he'll go straight in xabi's position which was occupied by lucas.i think if aquilani was allowed to play last night, the midfield will be so much better.

What we really lack last night was ball distribution. The ball was played mostly behind the centre circle and too much concentrated to right flank. When we played like that for 30 mins, it's easier to predict where the ball will go. Babel just don't have enough ball possession time to prove himself, and when he gets it, his old habit kicks in, selfish and impatient. Gerrard himself had to fall back to get the ball to his feet, leaving Torres alone and vulnerable to harassment from King. They locked both Gerrard and Torres effectively last night. When Kuyt was taken out and Voronin in, things looked promising at first, before another hole was created, blank right flank. Gerrard supposed to be there but he's not. This forcing Johnson to move up a bit and yet, giving another hole at right back, exploited by fast Defoe. Lucky us Keane had been subs before with slow Crouchie. Lucas was good for the entire game but he's afraid to move the ball forward, just playing Pong with Masch. Without Alonso around, he have to make initiative to play the first move bringing the ball forward.

Enough with Liverpool mistakes, Spurs was just phenomenal last night. They played really good football, good ball distribution, good first touches, good runs, good passes and not to forget, the lady luck was behind them. Kudos to Spurs for this win and making us in gloomy mood today.

At least Reina proved to many how good a shot stopper he really is. Or more accurately how good he is when it comes to one on ones. sweat.gif
In the first half at any rate. Only managed to see one half before the missus ordered me to bed on account of me having the sniffles. WeLiverpool were shite for the first 45.

wondering what style, movement and strength he will bring in...

Sorry but thats too far fetched. There is nothing Xabi or Aquilani could have done to ensure better performance from Carra, Skrtel, Gerrard, Babel and Torres. The players mentioned were just not in form. Lucas did all he could, played some quick passing to get the team moving but its not his fault if players like Babel and Gerrard couldnt stop giving the ball away. The former was attrocious at keeping possession, the latter did little with the ball fed to him. There's little he could do if the likes of Carra chose to bypass the middle and hoofed upfield. Babel seemed to picked up where he left off last season - totally clueless. Midfield wise, we were much better than last season against Sunderland but defensively we were shocking. We shouldnt have given away those soft freekicks. Masc was anonymous and didnt provide enough cover to the back four. Which could only result with Lucas doing a lot more defensive work.

Of the opening day for the Big 4, ours was probably the toughest, but you can't discount Arsenal's match away at Everton. So it is very disappointing and frustrating to lose. As usual, many will say this is just the first match, long way to go, we will get stronger, etc etc etc. Now where can I find statistics or information of how many eventual English League Champions actually lost the opening match of the season?

xabi's position doesnt mean he'll play like xabi..even rafa has said that AA is different from xabi..he's more of a fabregas rather than xabi..lots of movement, short passes & great long distance shot
