The purpose is to see the titles, you can't see it via the scanner. The ones suspected with inappropriate contents or banned in Malaysia will be submitted to KDN for further action. Many forumers here experienced this last year, including myself.

But don't worry, they don't do this all the time. Just when they have itchy hands as you said, but they still have the rights to open.
