Azxel, we both already agreed not all people can hear the difference. So I'm not going to argue anymore, if they can't hear the difference there's no point discussing equipment, bitrates, cost, etc.
Why do people always think that another opinion is always an arguement?
Aiman, just so you know... I'm not arguing.
I already agreed with you that people can't tell the difference. I didn't say that it's wrong or stupid to only buy Blu Rays with True HD audio.
The test was for those interested in telling the difference. Not everyone is an elite in this field. For some, sound comes naturally, for others the ear needs to be trained to hear the difference. So, there is a point of discussing bitrates, equipment and cost.
The difference between lossy (MP3 format) and lossless is big but to a lot of the untrained ears, the difference between Dolby Digital and Dobly TrueHD isn't that big for some.. especially to those who hadn't really had the chance to compare both formats.
So, let's keep an open mind, shall we? No harm, right? Your (and other elite's) recommendations are always appreciated because you guys have been using TrueHD format for some time now. The latest tech would be better than previous tech. That's for sure... my view wasn't saying that TrueHD sucks or anything... it's merely some folks may not be able to afford it yet or may not want to adopt it yet. Yea... the choice is theirs to make.
And I did branch the topic out by asking how much would the cheapest True HD receiver cost. Why? Because I'm curious about the price difference. I bet for a mid range performer, it won't be much but I wouldn't know... not many AV shops here compared to back in KL to go survey.
Added on August 24, 2009, 10:51 amOh yea... a great way to share is.. perhaps, telling us what you hear (the difference) in a movie with TrueHD and Dolby Digital. Some sounds in certain scenes which we don't hear (on DD). That would be totally intriguing...
