All these interpolation/100Hz/200Hz are done by the TV. You should be able to turn it off at the TV.

My BD player always display the 24p whenever the movie starts. Almost all theatrical movies were shot at 24 fps. Some documentaries were shot at 24 fps as well, Planet Earth is one example.

Usually HK/local pressed Hollywood movies only BD25. Bro Eye, can you check the back cover to confirm. Or if you have a BD-ROM drive can check properties. For movies longer than 2 hours I'm worried the bitrate has been compromised to fit the BD25, especially if the US version uses BD50. Kingdom of Heaven runs around 3 hours, US version is BD50 without extra features (except trailer).

HK release of HK movies are usually BD50 though, quality is comparable to US version. One example is the Red Cliff movies and Ip Man.

The easiest way to identify the local/HK release is by looking at the blue oval sticker on the front cover, local/HK is imprinted instead of a real sticker.

Much worse when the try to play it with a DVD player.

The customs has the rights to open your package though.

But from my experience they never open the BDs inside, they just wanna see what's in the package.

Not stopping me, my copy is already on it's way, I love this movie. My DVD copy was borrowed by somebody and never returned. I already forgot whom.

This will have to do until they do proper release with original Cantonese audio.

Added on September 16, 2009, 10:51 amThe purpose is to see the titles, you can't see it via the scanner. The ones suspected with inappropriate contents or banned in Malaysia will be submitted to KDN for further action. Many forumers here experienced this last year, including myself.

But don't worry, they don't do this all the time. Just when they have itchy hands as you said, but they still have the rights to open.

If I'm not mistaken, he has a PS3 from region A and a Panasonic BD player from region B.

p = progressive

fps = frame per second

They're basically the same. "P" refers more to playback that supports frame rate equals to the source. "FPS" is more in general term.
