QUOTE(maryjane9996 @ Sep 10 2009, 12:35 PM) Mrs Parker! Welcome back, how's your 'curry rice'? Remember this time no nakal-nakal links. If you cannot control then PM the link. Added on September 10, 2009, 7:05 pm QUOTE(dynamike @ Sep 10 2009, 01:29 PM) 1.)Forgetting sarah Marshall This was surprisingly watchable, though whether its worth the BD price is another question ... very nice and funny movie, highly recommended. explicit and funny $ex. not suitable for minor. QUOTE(aiman04 @ Sep 11 2009, 07:19 AM) Looks like the coming US release of The Legend of Drunken Master is not very good. And there's no original Cantonese/Mandarin audio tracks at all. hmm.... i think in theory then we shud stick to HK releases for HK movies then? Really hate those dubs, even from the French, Italian, etc. I prefer the dialogue in its original language and I read the subs.So sad, this is one of my favorite Jackie Chan movies. Still not sure whether to get this or not, the English dub sure is a turn off. Maybe gotta wait for a HK release. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ![]() |

QUOTE(DarkNite @ Sep 12 2009, 12:17 PM) If the title is stays true to the past POTC and follow the elements of the award winning novel then we are in for another interesting wild ride! 2 more years shud be enuf for POTC hangovers. In fact, POTC is one of my favourite popcorn fares, though the third one is admittedly too long and congested. Honestly, the only way to appreciate a POTC movie is Depp, and more Depp. |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Sep 16 2009, 10:18 PM) Blu Ray.com did a review of the only 3 Tamil Blu Ray releases. Kudos to them to doing it. I own only one of them, more of a support for the studio in their efforts to move ahead. I actually pity the reviewer the 3 films chosen to be ported to Blu Ray for Tamil are really not too great, there are better ones but at least the Tamil film industry is moving in that direction. I stay away from Tamil movies as there is rarely movies of substance out there. There is one director works that I would like to see more of Maniratnam (if any out there are interested). His movies have plenty of story and he takes movies out of some interesting people and issues (mixed marriages in India, terrorism and of course there is song and dance in them, that's how the industry is!) By saying foreign films, i suppose you mean the current ones and not the foreign classics? As for the former, recent good ones are Timecrimes, Tell No One and Let The Right One In, though I wouldnt say its due to Blu-Ray. Honestly, for BR audiences, what excites them most are the far out PQ and especially AQ. Foreign movies are seldom these and relies more on story-telling and direction, something DVDs can represent as a cheaper alternative.Made me think, when we will finally see a Malaysian (preferably Malay) movie making it to Blu Ray. I would love to see some of the old P.Ramlee pictures go through some restoration for Blu Ray because I really think he is a smashing actor and his movies were way ahead of his times. I stopped watching Malay movies some time ago since like Tamil movies they really have slumped in quality. Maybe a Criterion like restoration on some of P Ramlee's classics would revive the interest. Question, how many of you out there watch foreign language (non native spoken language) movies (ie, French, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin) and how has Blu Ray improved your viewing experience for this. I know that HK movies are a thrill to watch due to their big budget action related movies, but how many non Mandarin speaking watch the movies that are more serious in nature... |
