if not mistaken one don't put san when referring to own name.

yes, you are correct.
San is carried the "respect to you" meaning.
it is polite form.

we do not call ourself as "san".
but we will call the counterpart as san.
e.g. pewfy san --> i call my self pewfy san, wrong
ungka san--> ok. i call you as ungka san.

btw is it ok if i say one could add desu when referring to themselves (like the above sentence)
in case of forming a polite/formal sentece?

eg. "watashi ha blackpen desu"

well i prefer to use the correct character rather than the pronounced sound.
although in speech it sounded wa for this case.
ha = は
wa = わ
