i just love the new Catapult - that would make the MD4 Wildcat to shame in terms of price and multi modes but built quality is hard to beat the malkoff devices.

The new Fenix PD20 & PD10 is not bad either that comes with new knurling body but my NC D10 SP R2 UI is the best so far in this category plus it can accept AW14500 unlike the Fenix which will go direct drive which is not good for the XPE emitter - YMMV

actually i already put them in my L2D & my Novatac and wow how bright they are especially the Novatac.
In the Novatac it is so bright that i'm afraid it might blow out but it didn't. In the L2D it is bright also but the smooth reflector in the L2D is not as good as the reflector in the Novatac. But they are still unfinished as i have to put them under the sun so the Arctic Alumina will completely dry. Next up is to transform my Mag 2D to have this XPG-R5 in it |

guys,
the mod went on smoothly on both ( L2D & Mag 2D )after both of them have a really good sun bathing well my soldering is not that good due to lousy solder iron ( yeah right but it turn out well - sorry guys the photos later im really tired The L2D head was open using bare hand with rubbery mouse pad - i have open many Fenix's head with this trick P2D/P3D/P1D CE/P1 etc. Now the L2D no more fogging inside the reflector even power it up with 1xAW14500 + AA dummy Now the Mag 2D mod is using the XPG-R5 from cpfer R@ndom - http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=245629 The mod component that im using are :- 1.Heatsink from H22A - http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=160483 2.MOP reflector from Kai domain - http://www.kaidomain.com/CategoryPage.aspx?CategoryId=44 3.1A driver from DX - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1885 4.Shark-sink D for the driver from sandwich shoppe - http://theledguy.chainreactionweb.com/prod...roducts_id=1163 5.UCL lens 52mm from flashlightlens.com 6.26 AWG silicone wires - http://theledguy.chainreactionweb.com/prod...roducts_id=1193 7.Artic Alumina from sandwich shoppe or 4sevens.com 8.Mag Golden shorty tail spring - http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=1734 9.AW C li-ion cell + AA dummy from AW. 10.D - C - AA cell adapter. And the results on the Mag 2D XPG-R5 is well worth it and PRICELESS!! The hotspot is so intense for a tiny emitter and this thing can really throw - i now named it the Malkoff Replica Mag 2D drop-ins So now i don't have to buy that famous drop in from Malkoff anymore Sorry guys like i mentioned earlier - photos later + some eye candies Added on November 7, 2009, 10:25 pmHere are some eye candies. The beamshots was taken 12 feet from the wall. List of lights :- 1.Quark Regular 1xAW17670 2.Quark Tactical 2xnimh Imedion 2100mA 3.Nitecore D10 SP XPE R2 4.Fenix L2D XPG-R5 5.Mag 2D XPG-R5 - the spill is bluish due to the UCL lens blue coating 99% light transmit. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i didn't take the photos of the Mag 2D guts but here are some of it of the business end or it will look something like this ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by surefire v LED: Nov 7 2009, 10:35 PM |

I'm in Sg.Buloh onli
i'm not fimiliar with Tiablo. If swapping the emitter on a pcb board is fine but to swap the bare emitter is a pain in the ass to solder the Cree XRE but SSC & K2 emitter is easy |

QUOTE(pseudoblue @ Nov 8 2009, 12:46 AM) Hey surefire v led, Thx all for the kind words guys This is very very awesome indeed!!! Thanks for sharing so much info! Really learnt something here. The XPGs have a bit of a greenish tint huh? Like the XPE's, but the L2D has a very nice flood beam, amazing results and luv it! The 26 AWG silicone wires are preferred because it can take high heat or something? Can you opt to use normal electrical wires instead? I can't really see how the Shark-sink fit into the mag Good stuff man! In real life the tint on the Mag 2D XPG lean towards warmish tint but the spill is bluish due to the UCL lens. And yes i love the L2D XPG - and its growing Yes the 26 AWG wires are preferred because it can take high heat but 24 AWG is better,i have them coming maybe next week.Normal wires are ok but it will get corrode or dry in the long run due to heat and on top of that the body insulation too thick that it can't go through some small holes for wiring, the copper wires are hard to solder and hard to bend. Last night i try it outdoors, man this Mag can throw even in heavy rain and easily light up to 1K feet = 304.8 meters and it can go further with stock smooth reflector.
